Michael Giacchino Confirms ‘Werewolf by Night’ Sequel Talks Are Real

Werewolf by Night is a 2022 Marvel Studios Special Presentation released on Disney+ as part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Phase Four. Directed by Michael Giacchino and written by Heather Quinn and Peter Cameron, it follows Jack Russell (Gael GarcÃa Bernal), a secret werewolf who joins a deadly competition among monster hunters for a powerful relic while hiding his true identity.
The special also stars Laura Donnelly and Harriet Sansom Harris. Development began in 2021, with filming taking place at Trilith Studios in Atlanta in early 2022. Giacchino also composed the musical score.
Released on October 7, 2022, Werewolf by Night received strong reviews for its classic horror style, black-and-white cinematography, practical effects, performances, direction, and unique tone, which stood out from other MCU projects. A fully colorized version, titled Werewolf by Night in Color, debuted on October 20, 2023.
