Taylor Swift is bringing her music back to the big screen. The superstar confirmed on Friday that she will host a special theater event for her upcoming album, The Life of a Showgirl, just weeks before the album drops. The news follows an earlier report by The Hollywood Reporter.

Swift announced the event on social media at 12:12 p.m. ET — a nod to her 12th album — inviting fans to the official release party in cinemas from October 3 to October 5. Tickets are priced at $12.

“I hereby invite you to a dazzling soirée, The Official Release Party of a Showgirl: Oct 3 – Oct 5 only in cinemas,” Swift wrote. “You’ll get to see the exclusive world premiere of the music video for my new single ‘The Fate of Ophelia,’ along with never before seen behind-the-scenes footage of how we made it, cut by cut explanations of what inspired this music, and the brand new lyric videos from my new album The Life of a Showgirl.”

“Looks like it’s time to brush off that Eras Tour outfit or orange cardigan… Tickets are on sale now. Dancing is optional but very much encouraged.”

This isn’t Swift’s first theater event. Her Eras Tour film two years ago became the highest-grossing concert movie of all time, earning $261.6 million worldwide. Like that project, Swift is financing this event herself and bypassing traditional Hollywood studios.

AMC Theatres is partnering with her again to distribute the special event, using Variance to reach hundreds of theaters. Sources say the company will monitor advance ticket sales closely to gauge fan interest, comparing it to the record-breaking success of Eras.

The timing is notable. AMC and other theater circuits are still recovering from a slow summer at the box office. Domestic revenue in September rose just 6 percent compared to last year, down from more than 20 percent at the start of June. The release of Swift’s event coincides with other films hitting theaters over the October 3-5 weekend, including Dwayne Johnson’s The Smashing Machine and a limited IMAX rerelease of Avatar: The Way of Water.

This theater release shows that Swift continues to succeed on her own terms, connecting directly with fans without relying on traditional Hollywood structures.
