‘Ted Lasso’ Season 4 Just Introduced Roy Kent’s Most Unexpected Love Interest, Laura Haddock

‘Ted Lasso‘ Season 4 has spent much of its early episodes rebuilding AFC Richmond around the women’s team, but the show hasn’t forgotten to check in on its most emotionally guarded veteran. Roy Kent’s love life, still tangled up with Keeley Jones after years of on-and-off history, has quietly become one of the season’s most interesting threads.

That thread gets a new twist thanks to Keeley herself, who pushes Roy to go on 10 dates before he’s allowed to circle back to her, forcing him to treat dating like an obligation to check off rather than something to actually experience. True to form, Roy tries to speed-run the whole process, cramming multiple dates into a single chaotic evening.

That plan falls apart in Episode 4, titled “Greyhounds’ Day Off,” when Roy’s old knee injury flares up during a hookup with a bartender and sends him to the hospital. There, he meets Dr. Erin Beaumont, a friend of his sister Jenni who only agrees to treat him as a favor, and who immediately refuses to coddle him the way most people do.

Erin isn’t one of Keeley’s ten arranged dates, which is exactly what makes her stand out. She treats Roy’s injury, and his ego, with a bluntness he clearly isn’t used to, brushing off his usual gruffness instead of being intimidated by it.

That dynamic seems to be precisely what catches Roy off guard. By the end of the appointment, he’s the one asking for her number, a small but notable shift for a character who’s spent most of the season trying to prove he already knows what he wants rather than letting anything new surprise him.

Erin Beaumont is played by Laura Haddock, an actress whose face ‘Ted Lasso’ fans may recognize even if the name doesn’t immediately ring a bell. Haddock previously played Lucrezia Donati on Starz’s ‘Da Vinci’s Demons,’ and has appeared as Meredith Quill, Peter Quill’s mother, across the ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ films.

Her résumé also includes Vivian Wembley in ‘Transformers: The Last Knight,’ Myrna Dalgleish in ‘Downton Abbey: A New Era,’ and a lead role as Zoe Walker in the Netflix thriller ‘White Lines.’ Haddock trained at the Arts Educational School in Chiswick after being encouraged to pursue acting by a former-actress teacher, and began landing television roles in the late 2000s on shows like ‘Agatha Christie’s Marple.’

For now, ‘Ted Lasso’ has only offered the beginning of whatever this is. Roy’s connection to Erin arrives right as Keeley’s dating challenge starts to look less like a punishment and more like a genuine attempt to get him to open up to something unplanned.

Whether Erin becomes a real romantic chapter for Roy, a steadying presence during his recovery, or simply a one-episode wrinkle remains to be seen. Apple TV has confirmed that Season 4 runs for 10 episodes, stretching through October 7, which leaves plenty of runway for the show to decide how much weight this new relationship will actually carry.

It’s a fitting complication for a season that’s already balancing multiple messy love lives, from Roy and Keeley’s unresolved history to Coach Beard’s unraveling marriage to Jane. Erin’s arrival adds one more variable to a Richmond squad that’s clearly still figuring out its personal lives as much as its record on the pitch.
