‘The Apartment Job‘ has spent the past several weeks turning into one of the more unexpected hits of the JTBC weekend slot, blending crime-comedy antics with a surprisingly emotional core. Starring Ji Sung as a former gang boss who infiltrates a newly built apartment complex, the series has steadily built toward a finale that promises to resolve both its central heist and the deeper family drama fueling it, all while keeping its trademark blend of comedy and tension intact.
Since premiering on July 11, the series has followed a consistent Saturday and Sunday release pattern on JTBC, with episodes also streaming on Netflix for international audiences the same day they air in Korea. That structure has carried the show through 12 episodes total, giving fans two new installments almost every single week of its run.
The finale, episode 12, is scheduled to air Sunday, August 16, at 22:30 KST on JTBC. Episode 11 airs the day before, on Saturday, August 15, at 22:40 KST, giving the story a final two-episode block to wrap up its remaining threads before the season closes out.
For viewers watching internationally through Netflix, the streaming release has generally mirrored the domestic broadcast closely, with earlier episodes typically becoming available around 3 p.m. GMT or 11 a.m. ET on their release day. The season’s back half has escalated considerably heading into the finale. Episode 10 dealt directly with the fallout from Park Yong-man’s death, alongside a dramatic confession from penthouse resident and construction company CEO Lee Chung-won, whose own designs on the apartment complex’s reserve fund have driven much of the season’s conflict.
That confrontation left Park Hae-gang, played by Ji Sung, grappling with grief and anger even as he continues building his case against the larger network connected to Chung-won. Ji Sung leads the cast as Park Hae-gang, the head of HK Trading and Investment, a front for an illegal gambling operation he runs with help from three former gang lieutenants. His unlikely alliance with Kang Ha-ri, an aspiring lawyer played by Ha Yoon-kyung who works part-time at a prestigious law firm’s free consultation counter, has anchored much of the show’s emotional core, while Moon So-ri’s Jang Sook-jin rounds out the ensemble as the apartment complex’s ever-watchful resident busybody.
The series has performed well in the ratings throughout its run, with episode 10 drawing an average nationwide audience rating of 6.147 percent according to Nielsen Korea, marking the show’s high point to date heading into its final stretch. Each episode runs approximately 70 minutes, consistent with typical JTBC drama pacing throughout the season.
With the finale now just days away, ‘The Apartment Job’ looks set to close out its run on a high note, wrapping up both its central con and the emotional fallout that’s been building since Yong-man’s death. Between its ratings success and its blend of crime, comedy, and genuine heart, the drama has quietly become one of the standout Korean series of the summer.
