DC movie comic adaptations currently have two live-action Batmans in play, Gunn’s upcoming ‘The Brave and the Bold’ and another project that spun off DCEU under the ‘Elseworlds’ label, Matt Reeve’s ‘The Batman’ played by Robert Pattison.

‘The Batman’ was intended to be only the first in a trilogy of movies and soon after the release ‘Tha Batman – Part II’ was announced. In December 2021, Robert Pattinson and Matt Reeves discussed ideas for future Batman films, including introducing Robin and featuring various villains like the Court of Owls. In April 2022, Warner Bros. announced the development of the next Batman film with Matt Reeves directing and Robert Pattinson starring.

Now recently news came that the movie will be delayed by an entire year. Instead of releasing in October 2025, the movie is expected to hit cinemas on October 2, 2026. Several reasons have been given for the delay but none has been officially confirmed, ranging from the SAG-AFTRA strike to possible theories that Gunn doesn’t want competition for his own Batman.

According to Jeff Sneider via his newsletter, the filming for ‘The Batman Part II’ is supposed to begin in April next year, with the cast news arriving this fall. Fans noted that this seems a bit late, but whatever is currently happening with this film, it’s probably going to make sense in hindsight.

The cast & the plot of the movie remain largely unknown. Have something to add? Let us know in the comments below!
