Eric Kripke, the creator of The Boys, has spoken about a surprising moment in the latest episode of the show. The focus is a cameo from Samuel L. Jackson, who appears as a character named Xander.

The series is now close to the end of its fifth season, and excitement around the show is very high. According to streaming figures shared during its launch, the show reached around 4.1 million viewers per episode. Over time, it has become one of the most talked-about series on Prime Video because of its extreme style, dark humor, and violent storytelling.

In the interview, Kripke explained how the team managed to get Samuel L. Jackson involved. He said the idea was to give the character Xander a strong and instantly recognizable voice. That led them to think of Jackson early in the process.

Kripke said: “It became like a joke for us, how can we find the biggest and classiest actor to voice one of Deep’s ocean pals. We just went to our casting director and we said, “just ask.” And we knew we needed someone with just remarkably unique voice. So he was really our first and only choice of like, we need someone who in 5 seconds you go: “oh my god I know exactly who that is,” right? ”

“They went to his reps, and his reps were like: “I’m sure the answer will be no, but I’ll ask.” And they went to ask, and they said: “Yeah If you can do it on this date, he’s a fan of the show he will do it.”And he was in New York, and I was in LA, but I got to sit in on the recording room booth as he was improvising and recording. And talk about a dream come true moment, you’ve got like Samuel L. Jackson reading your dialogue lines in the most Sam Jackson way possible. It doesn’t get any better. “ Kripke added.

The role itself is unusual. Xander is shown as a hammerhead shark character who becomes part of the chaotic underwater story involving The Deep. At first, Xander appears as an ally during a mission, but later returns with a more aggressive purpose after events that affect ocean life in the story.

This kind of cameo fits into a pattern the show has been building for a while. In earlier seasons, the series has also used well-known voices in unexpected ways. One example is Ambrosius, who was voiced by Tilda Swinton in Season 4.

The story inside the show is now moving toward a major final conflict. The series is building toward a large-scale fight between humans and superpowered beings. Characters like Homelander and Billy Butcher are at the center of this conflict, and the stakes continue to rise as the season moves forward.

The show has also been expanding its universe through crossover characters and new story connections, including links to its spin-off Gen V. This has added more characters and more tension to the overall storyline.

The season is now approaching its final episode, and the story is heading toward what is expected to be a very intense ending. While details are still limited, the direction of the show suggests a large and chaotic conclusion, with many characters likely to face major changes.

For now, the focus from Kripke’s comments is simple. The team wanted a powerful voice for a wild character, and they managed to get one of the most recognizable actors in the world to deliver it.
