‘The Catch’ Star Emma Stone Crashes Druski’s ‘SNL’ Debut Monologue With a Love-Interest Reality Check
Emma Stone made a surprise return to Studio 8H on Saturday night, but the night belonged to someone else. Druski stepped onto the stage as the first exclusively digital creator to host ‘Saturday Night Live’, a milestone that had fans and critics talking for weeks.
The 32-year-old comedian built his following on viral sketches and character work, and he hosted the 5th episode of Season 52 with The Strokes as musical guest. It was the band’s 5th appearance on the show. His arrival also lines up with the December launch of his Netflix comedy series ‘Collect and Praise’.
Stone’s cameo is what set the monologue apart. Midway through his opening remarks, Druski announced that he had just wrapped his first movie and that his co-star was standing offstage. Out walked the 2-time Oscar winner, a member of the show’s exclusive Five-Timers Club.

The movie is ‘The Catch’, an upcoming Universal comedy directed by Stone’s husband, Dave McCary. McCary is a former ‘SNL’ segment director and writer, so the cameo kept things in the family.
Druski wasted no time. He told the crowd he was playing her love interest in the film, delivering the line with total confidence. Stone gently corrected him, saying he had misread their scenes because the two characters were never romantic.
Then she turned his mix-up into a punchline of her own. She said it was starting to make sense why he kept looking at her that way throughout filming. Druski rolled with it, noting that this explained why the two never kissed in the movie. He then offered to get it done if a sequel ever happens.
The exchange took a final swerve when Druski said he had loved her in ‘Bugonia’. Stone sounded genuinely touched until he admitted he only wanted to be the first Black man to say it. Another outlet reported that the 5-time host also gave the newcomer some advice during the bit.
Before Stone arrived, Druski used the monologue to confront the unusual circumstances of his booking. He called hosting a dream and said he was honored to share the stage with so many legends before him. He also joked about how some viewers only know him through his viral white-woman characters.
He promised the audience that ‘SNL’ would not water him down. He admitted the show had given him a few ground rules, including no cursing and no whiteface, and said he couldn’t promise to follow them. Both rules went out the window later in the night.
In a pre-taped sketch titled ‘Dru Can See Everything’, he dressed in whiteface as Elizabeth Holmes and dropped an f-bomb. The sketch parodied the documentary-style send-up of a recent box office hit. So the monologue warning turned out to be a straight-faced preview.
Stone’s appearance did more than give the episode a famous face. It tied Druski’s debut to a personal history with the show, since Stone met McCary there and has long been one of its most reliable hosts. It also gave the creator-turned-host a built-in scene partner who could match his energy without stealing it.
For Druski, the bit played to his strengths. His comedy leans on confident characters who misread a room, and casting himself as a delusional leading man opposite an Oscar winner fit that style perfectly. Stone’s dry reactions kept the joke grounded, and the crowd seemed ready for both of them.
It also gives ‘The Catch’ some early buzz. The movie hasn’t had much of a public rollout yet, and a few minutes of live television has now introduced the two leads as a comedic pairing. That is a promotional boost most studios would pay dearly for.
The historic hosting gig may have been the headline, but this monologue showed how quickly Druski can adapt to the pressure of live television. With Stone helping him land the opening laughs, the debut started on a high note.
What was the best part of Emma Stone's surprise appearance during Druski's 'SNL' debut?
