The new Marvel movie, The Fantastic Four: First Steps, has quickly become the most successful Fantastic Four film ever made. Released in 2025, this movie is part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and is the second reboot of the Fantastic Four series.

Directed by Matt Shakman, the film features well-known actors like Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, and Joseph Quinn playing the superhero team. The story is set in a retro-futuristic 1960s, where the team faces a huge threat from the cosmic villain Galactus, played by Ralph Ineson.

As of early August 2025, The Fantastic Four: First Steps has earned $198.4 million in the United States and Canada. Internationally, it has made $170.3 million, bringing the worldwide total to $368.7 million.

This impressive number means it has beaten every other Fantastic Four movie in box office earnings. According to official box office reports, the film opened strong, topping the charts with $56.1 million from over 3,600 cinemas in its first weekend.

Looking back, previous Fantastic Four movies have had mixed success. The 2005 Fantastic Four movie, for example, made $330.6 million worldwide, with $154.7 million from the U.S. This movie held the record for the highest-grossing superhero film directed by an African-American until Ryan Coogler’s Black Panther came out in 2018.

However, that earlier Fantastic Four saw a big drop in box office sales after the first weekend, losing 66% in its second week and 54% in its third.

The 2015 Fantastic Four reboot earned $301.9 million worldwide but struggled with a production budget of $130 million. When marketing and distribution costs are included, the total spending was about $200 million. This made the 2015 film the lowest-grossing Fantastic Four movie released in theaters so far.

In comparison, The Fantastic Four: First Steps has quickly surpassed these totals, proving to be a big hit with audiences. The film’s mix of classic comic book action, retro style, and strong performances has clearly paid off.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has once again shown its power to bring superheroes to life in a way that excites fans worldwide. With its strong box office numbers and positive buzz, The Fantastic Four: First Steps might just set the standard for future superhero movies.
