“The Furious” has stormed onto review sites with a rare perfect score, earning a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes from early critics. The film is already being talked about as one of the strongest martial arts releases in years, with several reviewers comparing its action intensity to the legendary “The Raid” films.

According to Rotten Tomatoes and early critical reactions, the movie has received strong praise across its first wave of 30 reviews. Many critics highlight its fast-paced fight choreography, brutal energy, and tightly staged action sequences that keep the tension high from start to finish. The audience score has not been fully established yet, but early reactions suggest strong word of mouth is building ahead of its release.

The film follows Wang Wei, played by Xie Miao, an ordinary tradesman whose life is shattered when his daughter is kidnapped by a criminal network. When the corrupt police refuse to help, Wei takes matters into his own hands. His journey becomes a violent search for justice that pushes him into a dangerous underworld.

Along the way, he is joined by Navin, played by Joe Taslim, a journalist dealing with his own personal tragedy after the disappearance of his wife. Together, the two form an unlikely partnership, fighting their way through a powerful criminal empire. The story builds toward a relentless rescue mission driven by grief, anger, and survival.

Early reviews have been especially focused on the action design. Critics describe the fight scenes as raw, physical, and carefully choreographed, with some calling them among the most memorable martial arts set pieces in recent years. One reviewer from the South China Morning Post noted that the film brings together top martial arts talent from across Asia, creating what they called “an utterly vicious brawl.”

Another critic from United Press International said the film “brings a new vision to martial arts movies,” adding that its performers combine technical skill with striking screen presence. Meanwhile, Zach Pope Reviews gave it a highly enthusiastic reaction, calling it potentially “one of the best martial arts films I’ve ever witnessed,” praising how each fight scene escalates in intensity.

Directed by Kenji Tanigaki, “The Furious” is a 2025 Hong Kong action film featuring an international cast including Yang Enyou, Jeeja Yanin, Brian Le, Joey Iwanaga, and Yayan Ruhian. The film first premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in September 2025, where it immediately attracted attention from genre fans and distributors.

It is scheduled for theatrical release in Hong Kong on 12 June 2026, with wider international rollout expected to follow.

With its perfect Rotten Tomatoes score and strong early buzz, “The Furious” is quickly positioning itself as one of the most talked-about action films of the year.
