The first teaser for The Marshals season 2 is out, and it puts Luke Grimes’ Kayce Dutton right back in the middle of danger. The footage shows him dealing with violent threats at home while also dealing with the emotional weight of his past. The information comes from People, who released the official teaser.

The new season continues the story of Kayce Dutton after the events of the Yellowstone finale. He is now working with the U.S. Marshals after being asked to join by his former Navy SEAL team leader. At the same time, he is still dealing with personal loss after the death of his wife, Monica, and trying to raise his son Tate on his own.

The teaser gives a clear idea that Kayce’s life is still far from peaceful. In one scene, armed men show up at his home on East Camp. Kayce reacts quickly and takes them down in a tense and violent moment. The trailer uses this scene to show that danger continues to follow him no matter where he tries to settle.

The footage, which you can check out here, also brings back the idea of the Dutton family legacy. Kayce is shown thinking about the violence that has followed his family for years. The Yellowstone story has always focused on how the Duttons are tied to land, power, and conflict, and this new series continues that theme through Kayce’s journey.

After the teaser was released, production on season 2 is moving fast. The show was renewed in March 2026 after a strong performance in its first season on CBS. Even though critics had mixed opinions about season 1, the audience numbers were strong enough to secure another season just two weeks after it premiered.

Filming for season 2 started shortly after renewal. Actor Logan Marshall-Green, who plays Cal, said in an interview with ScreenRant that production began in late May. He also described the new season as “an even better season” than the first one, showing confidence in the direction of the show.

Season 1 ended with several unresolved storylines. Cal and Belle were left in danger after being attacked by hired gunmen, and their fate was not confirmed. At the same time, Tom Weaver was seen taking Kayce’s son Tate on a private jet, which raised serious questions about his intentions. These loose ends are expected to carry into season 2.

The teaser also hints that Dolly Weaver, played by Ellyn Jameson, may not be fully involved in her father’s darker plans. Earlier episodes suggested she could be connected to his actions, but the new footage shows her in danger alongside Kayce, which suggests she may become a victim rather than an accomplice.

Another important theme in the teaser is the power struggle in Montana after the loss of the Yellowstone ranch and the death of John Dutton III. This shift has created a gap in control, and several characters appear ready to fight for influence. One of them is Randall Clegg, played by Michael Cudlitz, who is shown pushing toward conflict with Kayce and his team.

Overall, the teaser sets up a season that is more intense and more personal for Kayce Dutton. He is caught between his role as a lawman and the violent history of his family. The trailer makes it clear that even in his new job with the Marshals, the Dutton legacy is not something he can escape easily.
