‘The Office’ Cast Reunites to Celebrate Creator Greg Daniels Getting His Hollywood Walk of Fame Star

Greg Daniels has spent decades shaping some of the most beloved comedies on American television, quietly building a résumé that includes ‘King of the Hill,’ ‘Parks and Recreation,’ and the show that turned him into a household name behind the camera. His fingerprints are all over an era of TV comedy that still dominates streaming charts today.

That legacy finally got permanent recognition this week when the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce honored Daniels with the 2,856th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The ceremony took place Thursday at 6357 Hollywood Boulevard, placing Daniels in the Television category alongside other recent honorees like Sarah Michelle Gellar and Gordon Ramsay.

The event drew an emotional reunion, with ‘The Office’ cast gathering to celebrate the man responsible for adapting the British mockumentary format into one of NBC’s biggest hits. Longtime friend and writing partner Conan O’Brien and ‘Office’ star Steve Carell both joined Daniels as featured speakers, with entertainment journalist Marc Malkin serving as emcee for the ceremony.

Daniels and O’Brien’s bond long predates their television success, tracing back to their time together at Harvard University, where both worked on the undergraduate humor publication The Harvard Lampoon. Their creative partnership continued well beyond college, with the pair later writing together for both “Not Necessarily The News” and “Saturday Night Live.”

That decades-long friendship made O’Brien a natural choice to help celebrate the milestone, joining Carell in publicly reflecting on Daniels’ impact both on their own careers and on the broader television landscape. Walk of Fame producer Ana Martinez also spoke at the event, crediting Daniels with an extraordinary impact on popular culture through storytelling that resonates with audiences around the world.

While ‘The Office’ remains the project most closely associated with Daniels, his career actually began years earlier as a writer on “The Simpsons,” where he later partnered with Mike Judge to create “King of the Hill.” He went on to co-create “Parks and Recreation” alongside Michael Schur, who received his own Walk of Fame star back in May 2025.

The timing of Daniels’ honor lined up notably with his current output as well, arriving just one day after the second season of “The Paper” premiered on Peacock. That newer series follows the same documentary-style format as “The Office” while centering on the staff of a struggling newspaper in Toledo, Ohio, giving Daniels an active project to point to even as he celebrated his earlier work.

Photos and social media posts from the ceremony showed a warm, celebratory atmosphere, with attendees gathering around Daniels’ newly unveiled star for group photos throughout the event. The reunion energy reflected just how tightly connected the “Office” cast and crew have remained in the years since the show ended its nine-season run.

That closeness has been on display repeatedly in recent years, from cast members reuniting on podcasts to appearances together at award shows and other industry events. Daniels’ star ceremony added another chapter to that ongoing story, bringing together collaborators from multiple points in his career under one roof.

For a creator who’s spent most of his career working behind the scenes rather than in front of the camera, the public celebration marked a rare moment of direct recognition for Daniels’ decades of influence on television comedy. Between the Walk of Fame honor and “The Paper” continuing to build its own identity on Peacock, it’s clear Daniels’ creative footprint is far from finished.
