The One Thing Brad Pitt Fears the Most According to Angelina Jolie
Even the biggest movie stars aren’t immune to fear. Behind the glamour and fame, they deal with the same anxieties as everyone else. For Brad Pitt, the man known for his cool, effortless charm, that fear happens to be sharks.
In a 2014 interview promoting her historical epic Unbroken, Angelina Jolie shared some insight into Pitt’s surprisingly strong phobia. While the family was in Australia filming, Jolie encouraged their kids to swim and surf early to overcome her own fear of the water. Pitt, she revealed, wasn’t interested at all.
“I tried to get the kids to love the water, but he didn’t want to know when they were in it,” she said. His avoidance was tied to a deep-seated fear of sharks, making the thought of his children in the ocean almost unbearable.
It’s striking to picture one of Hollywood’s most fearless leading men genuinely terrified of what might be lurking below the waves. While Pitt can play daredevils and high-stakes adventurers on screen, his shark phobia shows that even stars have very human fears.
As of February, both Pitt and Jolie are busy with exciting new projects. Pitt’s upcoming film The Adventures of Cliff Booth, directed by David Fincher and written by Quentin Tarantino, revisits his Oscar-winning character from Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.
The movie transports Cliff Booth into the gritty, high-energy 1970s and has already created a buzz following a teaser trailer debut at Super Bowl LX. Jolie, meanwhile, is receiving acclaim for her new drama Coutures, which premiered in Paris on February 9.
She plays Maxine Walker, a filmmaker facing a breast cancer diagnosis while navigating the chaos of Fashion Week. Jolie has described the film as “a deeply personal story about resilience and finding beauty in life’s imperfections.”
Looking ahead, Pitt is attached to the highly anticipated sequel to the F1 franchise, confirmed by producer Jerry Bruckheimer after the first film’s massive $633 million global box office.
Jolie is returning to her action roots with the female-led gangster epic Sunny, directed by Eva Sørhaug, and is also set to star in The Initiative, an espionage thriller reuniting her with Doug Liman, director of Mr. & Mrs. Smith.
Brad Pitt’s shark fear might be unexpected, but it’s a reminder that celebrities are just as human as the rest of us. From revisiting iconic roles to exploring daring new projects, both Pitt and Jolie continue to evolve their careers while managing their personal lives.
