The Original ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ Movie Is Coming Back to Theaters to Celebrate Its 35th Anniversary

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are heading back to the big screen this summer, and it’s all for a special celebration. The very first live-action Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie turns 35 this year, and to mark the occasion, fans will get a chance to see the movie in theaters once again, along with some brand-new bonus content.
The re-release is being put together by Fathom Entertainment, and the film will only be in theaters for a short time. According to their announcement, you’ll be able to catch the movie on August 17 and August 19. Tickets are already available through Fathom’s website.
This 1990 version of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles was a huge hit when it came out and is still loved by fans for how it brought the heroes in a half shell to life. The movie had it all—fun action scenes, emotional moments, and the perfect amount of weird humor.
The turtles, in their full-body suits, looked great for the time, and the cast, including Judith Hoag as April O’Neil and Elias Koteas as Casey Jones, made the characters memorable.
It also had a cool soundtrack, with the song Turtle Power by Partners in Kryme still remembered by many fans. And for a movie aimed at kids, it didn’t shy away from showing how the police weren’t always the ones who could fix everything, especially when ninjas were involved.
What’s really exciting about this anniversary release is the new behind-the-scenes feature that’s being added. It’s called Turtles Unmasked, and it will play before the movie starts. It includes never-before-seen deleted scenes, old home-video footage from the set, and a brand-new interview with director Steve Barron. Fans who’ve seen the movie dozens of times might finally get to learn something new about how it was made.
Fathom Events said this will give audiences a chance to experience the magic all over again, while also getting a look at what went into making the film so special.
If you’re a longtime fan of the turtles or maybe just curious to see what the fuss is about, this could be the perfect time to check it out on the big screen. After all, it’s not every day that a movie from 1990 gets a chance to shine again, especially with some new material added.
So whether you love Leonardo, Raphael, Donatello, or Michelangelo the most, this might be your best chance to catch them in theaters one more time. And don’t forget, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will only be playing on August 17 and August 19. Cowabunga, dudes.
