The long-anticipated DCEU movie ‘The Flash‘ is less than two weeks away. This movie is widely anticipated among DC fans, maybe not even for the movie itself, as much as for the fact that it’s up to this movie to set up a whole new era of DC movies. DC Studios’ co-CEO James Gunn has already teased that this movie is important for the start of his DCU, despite being officially set in DCEU, which is counting its last months of existence and will officially conclude with ‘Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.’

‘The Flash‘ is a third-to-last DCEU movie, and even though it’s part of a dying franchise, Warner Bros. Discovery really needs a win with this movie, especially after commercial failures of ’Black Adam’ and ‘Shazam! Fury of the Gods.’ DC and James Gunn used all of their social media influence to hype the movie up, and the first reactions were also widely positive.

It remains to be seen how much the fans care about this movie, with an imminent reboot on the way. And let’s not forget about the legal troubles of the title star Ezra Miller, who didn’t even participate in the movie’s promotional campaign, even though the director Andy Muschietti said that Miller would reprise the title role in a potential sequel.

‘Aquaman’ writer has already finished the script for ‘The Flash’ sequel!

According to Variety, David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick has already finished the screenplay for the potential sequel to ‘The Flash.’ Still, the movie was never officially greenlit by Warner Bros. Discovery and DC Studios.

Considering that the script was developed before the ongoing WGA strike and most likely even before James Gunn came on board to develop DCU, it doesn’t guarantee that the sequel will ever enter production. The report says that the script includes the return of Michael Keaton’s Batman and Sasha Calle’s Supergirl.

The screenplay for ‘The Flash’ was written by Christina Hodson. David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick previously wrote ‘Aquaman’ and ‘Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.’ Apart from that, he’s also known for writing two previous ‘Conjuring’ movies, and prior to the WGA strike, he was hired to develop the script for the fourth installment, ‘The Conjuring: Last Rites.’

‘The Flash’ will hit theaters worldwide on June 16, 2023.
