The episode, which hit Paramount+ with Showtime on April 11 and aired on Showtime’s cable channel two days later, set a new high for the series’ season finales. This marks a 19% jump from the season two finale in May 2023.

Streaming played a big role in the finale’s success, with a 54% increase in streaming viewership compared to the previous season’s closer. Paramount noted that this was the most-streamed episode in the show’s history. The entire third season also saw a slight uptick, with a 3% rise in total viewership compared to season two, making it the most-watched season yet.

The show’s social media presence exploded during the season, racking up 10 million engagements—a 186% increase over the prior season. Yellowjackets now ranks as Showtime’s second most-streamed original series globally, trailing only Dexter: Original Sin.

While Paramount shared that the season three premiere drew 2.03 million viewers over its opening weekend, they didn’t release episode-by-episode data for the rest of the season. This makes it tricky to compare how viewership shifted from start to finish. Still, the finale’s seven-day numbers suggest strong audience interest.

Critics gave the season a warm reception, with Rotten Tomatoes reporting an 84% approval rating from 121 reviews and an average score of 7.25/10. Metacritic’s score of 64/100, based on 23 critics, points to generally positive feedback. Reviewers praised the show’s gripping moments in the wilderness but noted some uneven patches.

Yellowjackets continues to hook viewers with its mix of survival drama and mystery, and the record-breaking finale shows it’s still got plenty of pull. The boost in streaming numbers and social media buzz proves the show is resonating in a crowded TV landscape.
