‘The Testaments’ Season 2 Is Already Rolling Cameras, and the Cast Just Gave Fans the First Look
Gilead never really lets its residents rest, and neither does the team behind the world that Margaret Atwood built. ‘The Testaments‘ is an American dystopian drama produced for Hulu, based on Atwood’s 2019 novel, and it serves as a narrative continuation of ‘The Handmaid’s Tale.’ The show plunges viewers into a new generation of young women trying to survive a regime that never loosened its grip.
The series premiered on April 8, 2026, and Hulu renewed it for a second season just weeks later, in May 2026. That fast turnaround signaled just how confident the network was in the property, even before the freshman season had finished airing its ten episode run.
Now the cast itself has confirmed the next chapter is officially underway. In a fun TikTok video, the cast of ‘The Testaments’ confirmed that season 2 has begun filming, with star Chase Infiniti sharing the clip alongside Lucy Halliday, Rowan Blanchard, and Mattea Conforti, all filmed outside The Handmaid’s Tale stage as they seemingly confirmed production was already underway.
The reveal lines up with what eagle eyed fans had already suspected online. Social media posts hinting that season two production had started were circulating before any formal confirmation arrived, and this cast video appears to be the moment that finally made it official for viewers.
Infiniti leads the ensemble as Agnes, a Commander’s daughter in Gilead preparing to fulfill her obligations within the deeply religious society, while Halliday plays Daisy, a Canadian teenager who travels into Gilead as a Pearl Girl. Blanchard and Conforti round out the young core cast, with Ann Dowd also returning as the show’s most feared authority figure, Aunt Lydia.
Production has been based north of the border, with filming locations centered in Toronto, Ontario. Reports have also pointed out that a premiere date for the new season likely won’t arrive before 2027, given the amount of pre production and shooting time the series typically requires between seasons.
Behind the scenes, the creative team has been open about wanting this world to stretch well beyond a single follow up season, with the writers room for the next installment already active while the first season was still airing. That ambition tracks with how deliberately the show has built out its version of Gilead, layering new characters and allegiances onto the mythology fans already knew from ‘The Handmaid’s Tale.’
