5 Things About ‘Black Panther 2’ That Made Zero Sense and 5 Things About It That Made Perfect Sense

The sequel had to honor a legacy while building a new path for Wakanda, and it packs a lot into its story. It weaves grief, politics, and a clash of hidden nations into one big MCU chapter that still finds room to introduce new heroes and threats.

Here are five moments that raise fair questions and five that land with clear logic inside the world of the film. Each point focuses on what the movie shows on screen and how it fits with established details across the story and the wider MCU.

Zero Sense: The Vibranium Detector

Disney

Riri Williams is introduced as an MIT student who built a working vibranium detection prototype for a class assignment. The film states that her professor passed the design to the government without her knowledge, which is why the CIA uses the machine on a ship that gets attacked by Talokan warriors near an undersea vibranium deposit.

The chain of custody for the design is never shown in detail, and the movie does not depict any formal recovery or deletion of the research after the prototype is destroyed. Since multiple parties have already seen and used the design, the urgency around silencing the scientist rests on implications rather than on an on screen paper trail.

Perfect Sense: Shuri Recreates the Herb

Disney

The first film showed Killmonger destroying the heart shaped herb, which removed the path for a new Black Panther. In the sequel, Shuri receives a bracelet from Namor that carries fibers from a vibranium enriched plant native to Talokan. She uses those fibers as a genetic key to complete a synthetic recreation that her previous attempts could not achieve.

The movie shows Shuri ingesting the synthesized herb, entering the ancestral plane, and returning with enhanced strength and speed. The ritual follows Wakandan custom with a lab centered twist, which aligns with Shuri’s role as a scientist who works within tradition while updating the method.

Zero Sense: Namor’s Ultimatum

Disney

Namor demands the delivery of the scientist to keep Talokan hidden and threatens Wakanda to enforce that demand. He appears inside Wakanda undetected, demonstrates overwhelming force, and floods the capital to prove that his terms must be met.

The film does not show him targeting the remaining data or the government officials who already commissioned and field tested the detector. The escalation seeks secrecy while creating larger incidents that would logically invite more scrutiny, and the movie leaves that contradiction unstated.

Perfect Sense: Namor’s Origin

Disney

The backstory explains that Namor’s people used a plant affected by vibranium to survive disease and became adapted to the ocean. Namor was born with winged ankles, the ability to fly, and hybrid traits that let him function in air and water, which marks him as different even among his own people.

The film also makes clear that heat and dehydration weaken him, which matches the final fight strategy. His power set and limitations are presented with consistent cause and effect that guide both his tactics and Shuri’s counter plan.

Zero Sense: Ramonda Removes Okoye

Disney

The Dora Milaje swear absolute service to the Wakandan throne, and the first film showed Okoye upholding that oath even under Killmonger. In the sequel, after Shuri is taken during the Boston mission, Queen Ramonda strips Okoye of her rank and dismisses her from service.

The decision happens in a single confrontation and the movie does not show any tribunal, investigation, or security review to weigh Okoye’s long record against the failed mission. The choice reshapes the command structure in the middle of an active crisis, and the film moves forward without addressing any formal appeal.

Perfect Sense: Grief And Tribute

Disney

The opening shows that T’Challa dies from an illness that Shuri cannot cure, followed by a Wakandan funeral with white clothing, music, and a procession that reflects their culture. The silent studio logo tribute uses images of T’Challa and sets the tone for a story centered on mourning and memory.

Later, Ramonda and Shuri observe different practices around grief, which becomes a thread that runs to the final scene. Shuri completes the ritual of burning funeral garments on a beach in Haiti with Nakia present, which shows her acceptance and closes the arc that began in the opening minutes.

Zero Sense: The Sea Ambush Plan

Disney

Wakanda lures Talokan to open water using a sonic device mounted on a single ship. The tactic aims to disorient the attackers and isolate Namor for capture while the Dora Milaje and Jabari fight on exposed decks with limited routes for retreat.

The placement of nearly all forces atop one vessel concentrates risk as the Talokan fighters surround the ship. The movie shows brave execution of the plan, but it does not present any contingency for evacuation or a second platform to split the enemy, which leaves the defenders in a vulnerable position.

Perfect Sense: Riri’s Setup

Disney

While in Wakanda, Riri builds a new suit with access to Shuri’s lab tools, which allows her to field a prototype that can fly and fight at high altitude. The film establishes that the suit relies on non vibranium components that she engineers from available materials, which fits her profile as a brilliant builder.

At the end, Wakanda retains the armor she built on their soil and Riri returns to MIT without it. That clean break preserves Wakandan sovereignty over technology while setting Riri up to continue as a young inventor in her own story, which aligns with her path into ‘Ironheart’.

Zero Sense: Ross And Valentina

Disney

Everett Ross shares information with Wakanda through Kimoyo beads and tries to warn them about the detector. Valentina, now leading the CIA, has been monitoring his communications and arrests him for aiding a foreign power.

Okoye frees Ross during a transport, and he leaves with the beads that first exposed him. The subplot outlines government suspicion of Wakanda and hints at future conflicts, but the movie does not connect these events to the resolution of the Wakanda and Talokan clash.

Perfect Sense: Peace And Futures

Disney

After defeating Namor on land, Shuri offers a truce rather than a killing blow, and Namor accepts to protect Talokan from a larger war. He returns to his people and presents the alliance as a strategic gain, since Wakanda stands between Talokan and surface world powers.

The film closes with Shuri declining to claim the throne in the throne room, M’Baku stepping forward to challenge, and Shuri choosing personal closure in Haiti. The mid credits reveal of T’Challa’s son ties legacy to the future and gives Wakanda a private path for succession outside immediate politics.
