One film he spoke about with real admiration was The Thin Red Line. Nolan described it as phenomenal, saying it stood out not just as a war movie but as something deeply emotional and poetic. He praised its ability to balance violence, beauty, and quiet reflection in a way that still feels powerful today.

He also pointed to the film’s music as a huge part of its impact. Nolan talked about the score by Hans Zimmer and mentioned one cue in particular, Journey to the Line. Zimmer himself has joked that it is the forbidden cue because once people hear it, nothing else seems strong enough to replace it. Nolan agreed, calling the music a pretty magical piece of film score.

That influence carried directly into Nolan’s own work years later. When he teamed up with Zimmer for Dunkirk, the emotional weight and relentless tension of the music echoed what he admired so much in The Thin Red Line. Nolan has always said sound and music are just as important as visuals in his films.

Now, the director is looking ahead to his next major project. His upcoming film, The Odyssey, is being described as his most ambitious work yet. It adapts the ancient epic story and is being shot using new IMAX technology to capture massive landscapes without relying heavily on visual effects.

The cast includes some of the biggest names in Hollywood, with Matt Damon leading the film alongside Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, and Zendaya. Filming took place across several countries, with Nolan insisting on real locations to give the story a grounded and timeless feel.
