Sam Raimi’s “Spider-Man” trilogy is heading back to movie theaters this fall. Thanks to a team-up between Fathom Entertainment and Sony Pictures, fans will get to see the original films starring Tobey Maguire on the big screen once again.

The re-release includes something new: an extended version of “Spider-Man 2” that’s never been shown in theaters before.

This extended version is called “Spider-Man 2.1.” It features extra scenes and runs longer than the original film. It’s also been upgraded to 4K quality. This will be the first time “Spider-Man 2.1” is officially released in theaters.

The event kicks off on September 26 with the first “Spider-Man” movie. The next day, September 27, is when “Spider-Man 2.1” will be shown.

On September 28, fans can watch “Spider-Man 3.” If you can’t make it that weekend, the trilogy will play again the following week, from October 3 to 5. Tickets go on sale starting July 25.

Ray Nutt, the CEO of Fathom Entertainment, said the trilogy still means a lot to moviegoers today. “The success of ‘Spider-Man’ in 2002 helped launch the modern era of superhero films. To this day, Tobey Maguire’s take on Spider-Man resonates across generations. At Fathom Entertainment, we celebrate fandom and I am delighted that ‘Spider-Man 2.1’ in 4K will make its theatrical debut, a true gift for longtime fans and a thrilling discovery for new ones.”

This release is part of Fathom’s Fan Favorites series, which brings back older movies for a short time in theaters. Other films featured in this series include “Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade,” “The Sound of Music,” “Rocky IV,” and “Clueless.”

Earlier this year, the Spider-Man films also returned briefly to theaters as part of a different promotion. Cinemark locations screened all the live-action Spider-Man movies, including the versions with Andrew Garfield and Tom Holland. But this new event focuses only on the original trilogy directed by Raimi, with the added bonus of a never-before-seen extended cut.
