Spider-Man: Brand New Day is just weeks away from hitting theaters, but fans still do not know who the movie’s main villain is. While trailers and promotional footage have revealed several enemies Peter Parker will face, the biggest threat remains a complete mystery.

The latest update comes directly from Tom Holland, who recently spoke with German broadcaster ProSieben about the upcoming Marvel film. During the interview, Holland confirmed that the central villain has not been revealed publicly and is still being kept under wraps by the studio. “It’s still very much a secret,” Holland told ProSieben.

The actor also suggested that audiences should expect something different from what they have seen in previous Spider-Man movies. “It’s unlike anything we’ve seen in one of these movies before,” he said.

Those comments have only increased speculation among Marvel fans. With the movie’s July 31 release date getting closer, many viewers expected Sony and Marvel Studios to reveal more details about the story. Instead, the studios have continued to keep the film’s biggest secret hidden.

So far, most of the marketing has focused on villains that have already been confirmed. Michael Mando is returning as Scorpion, finally bringing back a character who was first teased years ago in Spider-Man: Homecoming. Another major threat is Tombstone, played by Marvin Jones III, who is expected to play a powerful figure in the city’s criminal world.

Other villains are also set to appear in the film. Boomerang and Tarantula have both been linked to the story, while the criminal organization known as The Hand is expected to create even more trouble for Peter Parker. Together, these characters already give Spider-Man plenty of enemies to deal with.

At the same time, there are still several unanswered questions. One of the biggest mysteries involves Sadie Sink’s character. Marvel and Sony have not revealed who she is playing, leading to several fan theories. Some believe she could be Jean Grey, while others think she may be Typhoid Mary or another well-known Marvel character.

Another interesting addition is Tramell Tillman, who plays a representative of Damage Control. Reports suggest the agency will take a tougher approach toward superheroes and vigilantes in the new movie. Bruce Banner is also expected to appear, although details about his role remain limited.

According to reports, the film also went through additional reshoots that focused on expanding the storyline connected to the secret villain. While neither Marvel nor Sony has officially commented on those reports, the rumors have added even more excitement around the project.

For now, fans will have to wait a little longer for answers. Despite multiple trailers, interviews, and promotional campaigns, the identity of Spider-Man: Brand New Day’s main villain remains unknown. Based on Holland’s comments to ProSieben, however, the character could end up being one of the movie’s biggest surprises.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day arrives in theaters on July 31.
