A new horror movie is heading to Tubi later this month, and it marks the feature debut of Destry Allyn Spielberg, daughter of filmmaker Steven Spielberg. Please Don’t Feed the Children will premiere on June 27 and stars Michelle Dockery in a leading role. The movie was written by Paul Bertino.

The story takes place in a near-future world where a virus has killed off most of the adult population. A group of orphans travels south, hoping to start over. But their journey takes a dark turn when they end up in the hands of a woman with a dangerous secret.

Dockery, best known for Downton Abbey, leads a cast that includes Zoe Colletti, Andrew Liner, Dean Scott Vazquez, Regan Aliyah, Emma Meisel, Joshuah Melnick, Vernon Davis, and Giancarlo Esposito.

The film was shot in Santa Fe, New Mexico, beginning in July 2023. During the SAG-AFTRA strike, it was allowed to continue filming under an interim agreement. However, the production ran into problems later. According to Variety, by May 2024, some vendors and crew hadn’t been paid, and tax credits from New Mexico were being held until those payments were made. Lead producer Jason Dubin confirmed the issues and said financing efforts were ongoing.

The movie had its world premiere at the Sitges Film Festival in Spain on October 11, 2024, where it made its first appearance before being picked up by Tubi. The streaming platform will release it in the U.S. and Canada later this month.

With its eerie trailer, bleak setting, and a mix of horror and psychological suspense, the film looks like it could be a strong start for Destry Spielberg’s directing career. The tagline says it all: “Don’t run. Don’t scream. Don’t break the rules. And, whatever you do, please don’t feed the children.”

This movie has a solid cast and a creepy premise, and it’s cool to see Destry Spielberg step behind the camera for her first feature. I’m curious to see how it plays out when it hits Tubi.
