New unused promotional artwork for Thunderbolts* has resurfaced online after being spotted in the portfolio of artist Joshua Ecton. The images, which were later reported and shared by entertainment coverage, offer a closer look at early teaser designs created during the film’s marketing phase.

The posters feature key members of the film’s ensemble cast, including Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, placed prominently at the center of several designs. Other characters shown in the artwork include Bucky Barnes, Red Guardian, U.S. Agent, Sentry, Ghost, Taskmaster, and Valentina Allegra de Fontaine. The visuals lean heavily into a darker tone, using fire, shadows, and desert landscapes to highlight the team’s unstable dynamic.

Some of the posters include taglines such as “Teamwork is overrated”, which reflects the group’s fractured relationships and uneasy alliances. The overall design style emphasizes tension and conflict, fitting the story’s focus on antiheroes forced into cooperation.

The unused artwork has drawn attention from fans, especially because it gives a slightly different look at how the film was originally marketed. Many viewers online have described the designs as “gorgeous hidden gems,” while others joked about how chaotic the team appears, pointing out how often the characters seem to clash in every visual version of the squad.

Thunderbolts* is a part of the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe. Directed by Jake Schreier and featuring a large ensemble cast, the movie follows a group of antiheroes who are trapped and forced to work together on a dangerous mission that reveals painful parts of their past.

The film’s production involved several writers and creative changes, with Marvel bringing in different teams during development to refine the script and character dynamics. Filming took place in multiple locations, including Atlanta and Utah, and wrapped in mid-2024.

When it was released in 2025, Thunderbolts* premiered as the final film of Phase Five of the MCU. The movie later revealed that the team is rebranded as the “New Avengers,” which also ties into the meaning of the asterisk in the title.

Critically, the film received generally positive reviews, especially for its performances and its focus on emotional themes, including mental health struggles among the characters. However, it did not perform strongly at the box office compared to expectations, earning around $382 million globally.

The resurfaced posters now give fans a glimpse into an earlier stage of the film’s creative direction. They show how the marketing team initially framed the story, focusing heavily on conflict and chaos within the group. Even after release, interest in the film continues, especially as fans revisit unused materials like these to better understand how the project evolved from concept to final cut.
