Video Shows Kit Harington and Sophie Turner Gagging After Filming Kiss Scene for the Dreadful
Kit Harington and Sophie Turner are back on screen together, but this time their roles are very different from what fans remember. The two actors, who spent years playing siblings on Game of Thrones, reunite as romantic leads in the new Gothic horror film The Dreadful. The movie is set to hit theaters on February 20.
The reunion has excited longtime fans, but for Harington and Turner, the experience was not exactly comfortable. After nearly a decade of working side by side as family on screen, switching to love interests proved to be awkward in a very real way. That discomfort became clear in a behind-the-scenes video recently shared by Entertainment Tonight.
The clip shows both actors jokingly gagging and pretending to retch right after filming a kiss scene. The moment was played for laughs, but it reflected how strange the situation felt for them. Turner later spoke openly about it and did not hold back.
She described kissing Harington as vile and called it the worst, explaining that it was hard to separate their long friendship from the scene they were acting out. Turner was also a producer on the film, which made the situation even more personal for her. Despite the reaction, she made it clear there was no real tension, just discomfort mixed with humor.
Harington echoed those feelings in a separate interview with E! News. He said the shift from playing siblings to romantic partners felt fking weird from the moment he read the script. The strangeness did not fade once filming started.

He also joked about the physical setup of the scene, explaining that he had to stand on an apple box to reach Turner’s height. That detail only added to the awkwardness of an already strange moment. Still, he said the two were able to get through it by laughing and leaning on their long friendship.
According to Harington, once they were on set, their bond helped make the scenes easier to manage. The jokes and shared history helped break the tension. What looked uncomfortable on camera was handled with trust behind the scenes.
The Dreadful is directed by Natasha Kermani and takes place during the 15th-century Wars of the Roses. The story focuses on isolation, trauma, and fear, with supernatural elements woven into the setting. Turner plays Anne, a woman living quietly on the edge of society with her mother-in-law.
Her character’s fragile world is disrupted when Jago, played by Harington, returns from war. His arrival brings unresolved history and sparks a chain of disturbing events. Anne’s mother-in-law is played by Marcia Gay Harden, whose presence adds weight to the tense atmosphere.
Since Game of Thrones ended in 2019, both actors have moved on to new chapters in their careers. Harington recently earned praise for his role on the fourth season of Industry, where he plays Henry Muck, a morally questionable figure in the banking world. He has also been balancing work with life as a father.
Turner has stayed just as busy. She was recently announced as the new Lara Croft for Amazon’s upcoming Tomb Raider series, which is currently in production under Phoebe Waller-Bridge. She also starred in the psychological thriller Trust.
Turner even joked that Trust was easier to film than kissing Harington, despite scenes that involved being covered in live rats. Outside of acting, she continues to be active in fashion and regularly appears at major events as a Louis Vuitton ambassador.
The Dreadful marks the first time Harington and Turner have worked together since the final season of Game of Thrones nearly seven years ago. While both have said they are done with the world of Westeros, this project shows they are comfortable pushing into new territory together.
