‘VisionQuest’ Clip Puts Vision Face to Face With Another Vision Ahead of the Penultimate Episode

Marvel’s android hero has been through more resets than almost any other character in the franchise. Vision died in ‘Avengers: Infinity War’, was rebuilt as an emotionless White Vision in ‘WandaVision’, and has now carried his own series for weeks with ‘VisionQuest‘. The Disney+ show has spent most of its run exploring what, if anything, remains of the Vision fans once knew.

Created by showrunner Terry Matalas, the 8-episode series follows a rebooted Vision who escaped people trying to weaponize him and has been in hiding. He consults the AI personas built into his programming, including F.R.I.D.A.Y., E.D.I.T.H., J.A.R.V.I.S. and Ultron, played by James Spader. A bounty on his head then sends him on the run with Thomas Shepard, a mysterious boy who may be his son reincarnated.

As the season heads toward its final stretch, a new sneak peek has arrived. The first clip from the penultimate episode debuted on ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live’ during Paul Bettany’s appearance on Thursday night. In it, White Vision walks down a staircase inside his own mindscape, in human form, and finds another Vision waiting for him.

The scene is short, but it packs in plenty of intrigue. White Vision looks stunned to see the second figure standing in his mental space. Some outlets have identified that figure as the so-called Hex Vision, the version Wanda conjured in ‘WandaVision’ who later restored White Vision’s memories, while others describe him as the original Vision.

The visitor then delivers a line about how, after all the battles and monsters, the only force powerful enough to imprison him is himself, adding that it’s poetic. White Vision answers that this isn’t a prison, and the clip cuts off. It’s a quiet exchange, yet it leaves a lot of questions hanging over the final 2 episodes.

The word choice is notable given where the series started. Bettany has said that at the end of ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’, Vision uploaded Ultron into his own mind, effectively leaving the villain trapped inside his consciousness for years. Spader’s Ultron has since appeared both as a voice and in human form, taunting Vision from within his own head.

That setup turns the mindspace into more than a visual device. If Ultron is imprisoned there, and another Vision is now walking its halls, the show could be building toward a battle that happens entirely inside Vision’s mind. The clip suggests the final episodes may focus less on the bounty hunters and more on who Vision decides to be.

The clip wasn’t the only talking point from the interview. Bettany also joked that Robert Downey Jr. returned to the franchise as Doctor Doom in ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ just to outlast him as the longest-running performer in the MCU. He added that he had held the title for a while, only for Downey to come back and take it.

Elsewhere in the conversation, the actor talked about an on-set mishap that left him with an injured eye after what he called acting too hard, and about becoming a U.S. citizen. He also chatted about his admiration for Christopher Lloyd, who appeared on the same show.

The series has been generally well received. TechRadar called Bettany and Spader the MCU’s best new double act and praised the emotional depth of their father-and-son dynamic, while Den of Geek described the first 2 episodes as uneven even as it enjoyed the leads’ chemistry. The supporting cast includes Ruaridh Mollica as Tommy, Todd Stashwick as Paladin, James D’Arcy as J.A.R.V.I.S. and T’Nia Miller as Jocasta.

The next episode, titled ‘Immolation’, arrives on Disney+ on November 3 in the U.S., with the finale following a week later. The series closes out the ‘WandaVision’ trilogy, though Vision’s role in ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ remains unconfirmed, with Bettany absent from the official cast announcements.

For now, fans have one more week to speculate about what the second Vision means. Whether he’s a memory, a warning or a tool for Ultron, his arrival suggests the show’s biggest reveal is still to come.

Who do you think the second Vision really is in VisionQuest?
