Few Marvel Television projects arrive carrying as much baggage as ‘VisionQuest‘. It is the final chapter in a trilogy that began with ‘WandaVision’ and continued with ‘Agatha All Along’, and it has the job of giving Vision a proper send-off. That is a lot of expectation for a character who has been through death, resurrection and an identity crisis.

The series picks up with a rebooted Vision, played by Paul Bettany, working at a pub in Edinburgh while trying to keep a low profile. He is also trying to make sense of memories that aren’t quite his own. The AI personas inside his programming and the superintelligent Ultron, voiced by James Spader, help him on his quest to become more human.

‘VisionQuest’ premiered on Disney+ on October 13 with 2 episodes. The 8-episode run is releasing the first 6 episodes in pairs, followed by 2 weekly episodes. Episodes 5 and 6 arrived on October 27, which means viewers have now seen three-quarters of the story.

Terry Matalas serves as showrunner. The cast also includes Faran Tahir returning as Raza, along with Orla Brady, Emily Hampshire, James D’Arcy, Henry Lewis and Jonathan Sayer as Vision’s AI voices. The finale is set to arrive on November 10.

With 6 episodes now out, the IMDb ratings give a clear picture of how viewers are reacting. Episode 1, ‘No Strings’, sits at 7.9, the lowest score of the run. Episode 2, ‘Theseus’, and episode 3, ‘Reboot’, both hold an 8.1. and 8.0, respectively.

Episode 4, ‘Malware’, jumps to 8.5, the highest score alongside episode 6 which holds 8.6. Episode 5, ‘Firewall’, sits at 8.1.

That trend is notable. The series opened at its lowest point and has mostly climbed from there, with only a slight dip in the fifth episode. For a show that has to juggle emotional character work with franchise mechanics, steady audience scores suggest viewers are staying invested.

Critics have been generally positive. On Rotten Tomatoes the series holds a 91% Tomatometer score from 87 reviews, with a 84% Popcornmeter score from more than 500 audience ratings. Reviewers have singled out the dynamic between Bettany and Spader as a highlight.

Not everyone is fully convinced. Some critics have described the show as bloated at times or said it drags when it dwells on certain characters’ backstories. One review suggested the series should have concluded after the sixth episode.

The latest episode shows that split. One reviewer felt ‘Deadlock’ got mired in Marvel mechanics and lost the momentum the series had been building. Another felt the return of the MCU’s first villain was underwhelming. Even so, IMDb viewers rated it at the top of the run.

With just 2 episodes left, the final stretch will determine how fans remember this trilogy-closing chapter. The finale runs about 68 minutes, making it the longest single episode of any MCU television series to date. That length suggests the creators have plenty to wrap up.

If the ratings hold, ‘VisionQuest’ could finish as one of the better-received Marvel streaming series of the year. It has also kept its audience engaged across a release schedule that rewards weekly viewing. The final 2 episodes will show whether Vision’s journey sticks the landing.
