Amazon MGM has released the final trailer for its upcoming space movie Project Hail Mary, giving fans a much closer look at the story and one very important character. The new trailer finally shows Rocky, a five-legged alien who clearly plays a major role in the film and is not just a small background creature. The information comes from Amazon MGM’s official trailer and announcement.

The movie follows Dr. Ryland Grace, a scientist who wakes up alone on a spaceship far away from Earth with no memory of who he is or why he is there. As he slowly figures things out, he learns that he is the last chance to stop a disaster that could wipe out life on Earth. The film is based on Andy Weir’s 2021 novel. He is the same writer who created The Martian, so many fans already expect a mix of science, survival, and strong emotions.

Project Hail Mary will open in theaters across the country on March 20. Amazon also shared that Prime members will get early access to tickets for special screenings on March 16. These early showings will be available in big premium formats like IMAX, Dolby Cinema, 4DX, and 70MM. Tickets are expected to go on sale through Fandango starting February 20.

Ryan Gosling plays Dr. Ryland Grace and also worked as a producer on the movie. He has had a busy run lately after the huge success of Barbie and the action comedy The Fall Guy. Sandra Hüller joins him as Eva Stratt, his strict superior. The cast also includes Milana Vayntrub, Ken Leung, and Lionel Boyce.

The film is directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, the duo known for the Spider-Verse movies. The script was written by Drew Goddard, who previously adapted The Martian for the big screen. To create Rocky, the production combined puppetry and digital effects. James Ortiz voiced the character and worked as the lead puppeteer on set to interact directly with Gosling.

There is already talk about Gosling’s future projects, including rumors about an Ocean’s Eleven prequel with Margot Robbie and a possible sequel to The Gray Man. For now, though, the focus is on this space adventure and whether it can match the success of earlier adaptations of Andy Weir’s work.
