Daniel Radcliffe recently addressed the long-running rumors about him possibly playing Wolverine in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Fans have imagined him with adamantium claws for years, but the Harry Potter actor was quick to set the record straight.

In a conversation with ComicBook.com, Radcliffe explained that Marvel has never formally contacted him about the role. “It was a very flattering internet rumor,” he said, “but it was never real and no one with the power to make it happen ever proposed it.” While he admitted that joining the MCU would be exciting, taking on Wolverine is not something he’s looking to do.

“Being the person who follows Hugh Jackman is not on my bucket list for anything,” Radcliffe added, showing respect for Jackman’s decades-long commitment to the role. He also praised the legacy Jackman has built and said he is happy to let him continue playing the character.

When asked about joining a different superhero franchise, Radcliffe admitted he feels a little behind on the current state of cinematic universes. He joked that he would need to catch up before joining a big franchise, though he left the possibility open. “I’m not necessarily clamoring to be in it,” he said, making it clear that while he wouldn’t say no, it’s not a priority.

Radcliffe reflected on his experience leading the Harry Potter series, noting that having a huge franchise early in his career gave him freedom later on. “I got mine out of the way,” he explained. The success of those films allowed him to explore independent films, theater, and other projects that interested him without pressure.

Currently, Radcliffe is busy promoting his NBC comedy series, The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins, which premiered on February 23. The show stars Radcliffe alongside Tracy Morgan and takes a satirical look at the entertainment and sports worlds. It follows the chaotic journey of a disgraced filmmaker and a former athlete, showcasing Radcliffe’s talent for character-driven comedy.

Outside of TV, Radcliffe continues to work in theater and high-concept cinema. He recently starred in the film Merrily We Roll Along, drawn to its unusual narrative style. He is also rumored to be involved in several independent dramas currently in pre-production, reflecting his preference for “weird and cool” scripts rather than large blockbuster roles.

Even though he’s not pursuing Wolverine, Hugh Jackman remains very much active, with reports suggesting he will continue to portray the character in upcoming Avengers films. Radcliffe’s focus is on projects that allow him to explore unique characters and stories, balancing TV, film, and stage work in ways that keep his career diverse.

Daniel is currently starring in The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins, and fans can also look forward to his upcoming independent films and theater work. The series has received positive attention for its humor and sharp satire, and Tracy Morgan’s performance alongside Radcliffe has been a highlight.
