White House Criticizes Mark Hamill After “Star Wars” Star Posts Controversial Image of Donald Trump in a Grave
The White House and actor Mark Hamill are at the center of a new political controversy after a social media post about Donald Trump spread online and triggered a strong reaction.
The situation started when Hamill shared an AI-generated image on his Bluesky account showing Trump lying in front of a grave. The post included the text “If Only,” along with a message where Hamill wrote about Trump facing political defeat and legal consequences in the future.

In that original post, Hamill wrote, “He should live long enough to witness his inevitable devastating loss in the midterms, be held accountable for his unprecedented corruption, impeached, convicted & humiliated for his countless crimes.” He also added comments about Trump being remembered badly in history.
The post quickly drew attention online and was later deleted by Hamill.
After removing it, Hamill posted again to clarify his message. He said, “Accurate Edit for Clarity: ‘He should live long enough to… be held accountable for his… crimes.’ Actually, I was wishing him the opposite of dead, but apologize if you found the image inappropriate.”

The White House responded strongly through its Rapid Response communications account on X. According to their statement, they called Hamill “a sick individual” and said his post was dangerous. They also claimed that this kind of language has contributed to violence, including past assassination attempts against Trump.
The response read, “.@MarkHamill is one sick individual. These Radical Left lunatics just can’t help themselves. This kind of rhetoric is exactly what has inspired three assassination attempts in two years against our President.”
The report comes from statements shared by the White House communications team and posts made on Bluesky and X, as reported by multiple media outlets covering the exchange.
Hamill, who is widely known for playing Luke Skywalker in the Star Wars series, has often spoken out against Trump in the past. He has used social media and interviews to criticize Trump’s leadership and policies.
In a previous interview with The Times of London, Hamill described his reaction to political developments in strong personal terms. He said, “The bullying, the incompetence, the people in place… The only way I can deal with it without going crazy and wanting to open my veins in a warm tub is to look at it like a thick, sprawling political novel.”
He also added, “It’s entertaining in a way because this could actually be the end. Our status in the world has been crippled and that will reverberate for decades.”
The latest exchange has added more tension to an already heated political climate online, with supporters and critics on both sides reacting strongly to the post and the White House response.
This situation shows how fast social media posts can turn into major political flashpoints, especially when public figures are involved. It also shows how quickly tone and intent can be interpreted in very different ways by different audiences.
