White House Holds Star-Studded ‘Melania’ Screening With Tyson, Cook, and Jassy
The White House hosted an exclusive, star-studded screening of the Amazon-backed documentary Melania on Saturday, January 24, 2026, just days before the official premiere at the Kennedy Center. First Lady Melania Trump welcomed 70 friends, family members, and VIPs to the East Room for a private dinner and movie viewing ahead of a predicted snowstorm in Washington, D.C., according to sources familiar with the event.
The guest list included high-profile names like director Brett Ratner, Queen Rania of Jordan, Amazon CEO Andy Jassy, Apple CEO Tim Cook, Zoom CEO Eric Yuan, AMD CEO Lisa Su, Mike Tyson, socialite Azzi Agnelli, Tony Robbins, and photographer Ellen von Unwerth, who shot the movie poster. Also attending were Barron Trump, Ratner’s mother, and Mike Hopkins of Amazon MGM Studios. Marc Beckman, a senior adviser and longtime manager to the First Lady, reportedly helped oversee every aspect of the project.
Because the usual East Wing screening room is currently closed to build the Trump ballroom, Melania and her team built a temporary theater with state-of-the-art sound and a giant movie screen installed under Ratner’s supervision.
Sources say that only Melania, Ratner, and a small group of associates had seen the film before this event. The President and his advisors watched it for the first time during Saturday’s screening. A full military band greeted guests and played Melania’s Waltz, composed specifically for the film by Hollywood composer Tony Neiman.

The documentary, reportedly produced for $40 million, will open nationwide in theaters on January 30, 2026, with a Kennedy Center premiere for VIPs and dignitaries on January 29. Smaller screenings are planned in 20 cities including Nashville, Boston, San Francisco, and Las Vegas, featuring red carpets and special guest appearances. Amazon MGM Studios, led by Jassy, is handling global distribution, with the film expected on Prime Video soon after its theatrical run.
Melania traces the First Lady’s life from the 2025 presidential campaign to inauguration day, with Ratner spending months at Mar-a-Lago to capture behind-the-scenes footage. A follow-up three-part docuseries is already in production, which will focus on her philanthropic work and foster care initiatives.
The film has already generated discussion in the arts world, especially following the temporary renaming of the Kennedy Center to the “Trump-Kennedy Center.” Some artists have canceled performances in protest, but the administration is pushing forward with the global release, which will include Europe, Asia, Israel, and the United Arab Emirates.
Do you think this $40 million documentary will give a true look at the First Lady’s private life, or will she continue to keep her personal world largely hidden?
