After the success of the extremely popular ‘Mandalorian,’ Disney decided to give Boba Fett his own TV series after his return. Throughout both shows, tons of popular characters from the Star Wars canon appeared.  Luke Skywalker, Ahsoka Tano, and Cad Bane were some of the big ones, but one of the smaller appearances was Black Krrsantan. Only ever appearing in the comics, Krrsantan was a deep cut from Star Wars lore and a great addition to the series. So, who is the black Wookie in ‘The Book of Boba Fett’ TV show?

Black Krssantan was a Wookie bounty hunter who first appeared in ‘Darth Vader #1’ (2015). We first meet the bounty hunter when he and Boba Fett are both hired by Darth Vader to hunt down a scientist who was affiliated with the Emperor. Since then, we have seen the character appear in multiple comics and even fight iconic characters like Obi-Wan-Kenobi.

Now that we have briefly discussed who Black Krrsantan is let’s analyze the character in more detail. If you’re interested in more, stay with us and keep reading!

When Disney first acquired the rights to Star Wars, they started their new line of Star Wars comic books published under Marvel. With that line came the fantastic ‘Darth Vader’ series in 2015 by Kieron Gillan. In the very first issue of this series, audiences were introduced to Black Krrsantan. During the issue, Krrsantan is hired by Jabba the Hutt to help Darth Vader track down Cylo, an agent of the Emperor and retrieve information from him.

Later in the series, Krrsnantan gets hired by Dr. Aphra, another prominent character in the Star Wars comics. He then becomes a big antagonist in the comics, going up against characters like Chewbacca and Obi-Wan Kenobi.

Krrsantan’s early life

Before working prominently for Jabba the Hutt, Krrsantan was born and raised on Kashyyyk along with the rest of the Wookiees. After being disgraced for his criminal actions, Krrsantan fled the planet to become a Bounty Hunter.  After fleeing Kashyyyk, Krrsantan was enslaved and fought in a gladiator ring. The Xonti Brothers who enslaved him had metal put into his knuckles to make him a more brutal fighter and make him more appealing to sell to enslavers.

When Krrsantan was enslaved, he was taught a lot of new fighting skills to ensure his success in the gladiator ring, but this ended up giving him what he needed to escape, and end up working for Jabba the Hutt.

Unlike most Wookiees, Krrsantan is a lot more brutal and is more likely to use his teeth in a fight and overall be a dirty fighter. He also has a distinct look from other Wookies with his black fur, golden shoulder pad, and electrified metallic knuckles.  Just like most Wookies, Krrsantan is equipped with a bowcaster, the type made famous by Chewbacca, and a powerful sidearm.

Obi Wan Vs Krrsantan

During a flashback sequence in ‘Star Wars’ #20, Jabba sends Krrsantan to enforce his water tax on Tattoine. At the same time, Obi-Wan Kenobi tries to go after Jabba to stop the water tax as he notices it is severely impacting residents on the desert planet.

This causes the two of them to get into a very strenuous fight, both getting solid blows in, but Kenobi eventually gets the upper hand when he slashes Krrsantan in the face with his lightsaber. After his defeat, Krrsantan realizes that Jabba will not be happy, so he flees the planet but returns a few years later when he is hired to help Vader.

After the events of ‘A New Hope,’ the empire vigorously hunts Luke Skywalker because he blows up the Death Star and his connection to the force. Darth Vader wants him found and hires a few bounty hunters to do this, Krrsantan being one of them. While he doesn’t find Luke Skywalker, he does find Chewbacca.

We then get a fight between the two characters. While Krrsantan does get the upper hand in the fight, Chewbacca eventually defeats him with the help of C3-PO by electrocuting him.

During his first live-action appearance in ‘The Book of Boba Fett,’ Krrsantan is sent to assassinate the legendary bounty hunter.  In Chapter 3, they have a grueling battle, and with the help of Mod Gang, Fett eventually defeats him.

After the battle, Jabba the Hutt’s cousins decide to give Krrsantan to Boba Fett as a gift but against their advice, he decides to let Krrsantan run free. Fett then hires Krrsantan as one of his new bodyguards at the end of the season.

What’s next for Black Krrsantan?

Krrsantan live action 3

While Krrsantan is a prominent character in the current Star Wars comics, the comics have not caught up to the live-action series yet and still take place between ‘Empire Strikes Back’ and ‘Return of the Jedi.’ This means that any media we see of the character will be before the ‘Book of Boba Fett,’ but if we see him in live action anytime soon, he may take Boba’s advice ‘Take it from an ex-bounty hunter, don’t work for scugholes.’ He could be trying to turn a new leaf and forge his own path in the galaxy.
