‘X-Men ’97’ Season 2 Details Finally Revealed With Full Episode List and Release Schedule
X-Men ’97 Season 2 is finally ready to return, and Marvel Studios has revealed exactly when fans can watch every new episode. After the huge success of the first season in 2024, the animated series is coming back with a new story, new threats, and the arrival of one of the X-Men’s biggest villains: Apocalypse.
Marvel Entertainment announced the full release schedule for Season 2 on social media, with the new episodes arriving on Disney+. The season will begin with a three-episode premiere on July 1, giving fans an early look at the next chapter after the shocking cliffhanger ending of Season 1.
The first three episodes are titled “Days of Past Future,” “A Force to be Reckoned With,” and “Rise of Apocalypse — Part I.” Episode four, “Rise of Apocalypse — Part II,” will follow on July 7. The remaining episodes will then release weekly, ending with the finale, “Survival of the Fittest,” on August 12.
The complete schedule includes nine episodes, with titles that appear to tease major comic book storylines and character arcs. Some episode names seem to connect directly to classic X-Men history. For example, “Days of Past Future” looks like a new version of the famous “Days of Future Past” storyline, while “Strange Land, Savage Heart” appears to reference the Savage Land stories from the original X-Men animated series.
The biggest focus of the new season will be Apocalypse, who will serve as the main villain. Based on trailers and early footage, the X-Men will face the powerful mutant across different time periods. Professor X, Magneto, Rogue, Beast, and Nightcrawler will encounter Apocalypse in ancient Egypt, where he is known as En Sabah Nur, the first mutant.
Meanwhile, Cyclops, Jean Grey, Wolverine, Storm, and Morph will deal with Apocalypse in the future, where he has become a powerful ruler. The season will also introduce more characters, including Polaris, Magneto’s daughter, and adult Cable.
The episode titles have already sparked plenty of fan theories. “A Force to be Reckoned With” has led some fans to believe the story could involve X-Force, the mutant team connected to Cable. “Weapon X, Lies, and DVDs” appears to hint at a Wolverine-focused episode, while “Danger.exe” likely points toward Danger, the living version of the X-Men’s Danger Room from the comics.

One of the most talked-about titles is “The Dead Man’s Hand,” which has fans wondering if it connects to Gambit’s possible return. Gambit’s death was one of the biggest emotional moments of Season 1, but in the world of X-Men, death is rarely permanent.
According to early reactions, the second season is already shaping up to continue the success of the first. Polygon, which viewed the first four episodes, reported that the new season is looking even stronger than expected.
With more characters, time-travel stories, and the arrival of Apocalypse, X-Men ’97 Season 2 looks ready to expand the world of the beloved animated series. The new episodes will begin streaming on Disney+ on July 1.
