YouTube Premium and Peacock Just Struck a Massive Deal, and Streaming Bundles May Never Look the Same
Streaming bundles have become the industry’s go-to strategy for keeping subscribers loyal in an increasingly crowded marketplace, and this week delivered one of the biggest examples yet. With so many services competing for the same limited attention spans, pairing up with a direct rival’s platform has become less about competition and more about survival.
That trend reached a new milestone this week as two major players in the streaming and video space joined forces in a way few saw coming. NBCUniversal and YouTube have been steadily expanding their working relationship over the past year, but nothing compared to the scale of what the two companies just confirmed together.
According to the newly announced partnership, Peacock Premium will be bundled directly into YouTube Premium subscriptions in the United States starting in early 2027, giving subscribers access to Peacock’s full content library at no additional cost. The deal folds Peacock’s content directly into the YouTube viewing experience itself, meaning subscribers will not need to leave the platform or juggle a separate app to access it.
That includes Peacock’s entire library of live sports coverage, such as NFL and NBA games, alongside Universal film franchises like the Minions series and popular original programming including ‘Love Island USA’ and the ‘Real Housewives’ franchise. YouTube Premium currently costs 15.99 dollars a month for individual subscribers following a recent price increase, and the companies have not announced whether that price will change once Peacock content becomes available.
YouTube CEO Neal Mohan described the partnership as a way to redefine what a modern entertainment subscription can look like for consumers, framing the deal as pairing YouTube’s uninterrupted viewing experience with Peacock’s expansive lineup of live sports and blockbuster films, in a statement provided to The Hollywood Reporter.
The agreement extends well beyond just Peacock access. It also renews NBCUniversal’s existing distribution deal with YouTube TV, ensuring the company’s broadcast, cable, news, and sports channels remain available on that platform going forward, following their most recent renewal back in October 2025.
International audiences are also part of the expanded arrangement, with YouTube Premium set to bring NBCUniversal’s Universal Plus and Hayu streaming services to select markets outside the United States. Peacock itself remains a US only service for now, so that portion of the deal will not apply to Peacock content specifically, though SkyShowtime, NBCU’s joint venture with Paramount covering central and eastern Europe, remains unaffected by this particular agreement.
The timing of the announcement is notable given Peacock’s recent financial milestones. NBCUniversal confirmed last week that Peacock finally turned its first ever quarterly profit during the second quarter of 2026, six years after its original 2020 launch, while also reporting 48 million paying subscribers as of the end of June, reflecting two million net additions during that period.
This deal builds on an existing relationship between the two companies, since Peacock Premium Plus already became available as a separate paid add on through YouTube Primetime Channels back in June for 16.99 dollars a month. That earlier arrangement laid the groundwork for this far more comprehensive bundling agreement now set to roll out in 2027.
Would the YouTube Premium + Peacock bundle make you more likely to subscribe?
With YouTube Premium boasting more than 125 million subscribers globally, this partnership gives Peacock access to an enormous new audience without requiring users to open a separate app or manage another individual subscription. For an industry increasingly defined by bundling strategies, this deal represents one of the most significant streaming partnerships to date.
The new YouTube Premium and Peacock bundle is set to launch in the United States in early 2027.
