Zoe Saldaña made a strong fashion statement at the Breakthrough Prize Awards in Santa Monica. The event took place on Saturday night and brought together many well-known names from Hollywood.

Saldaña arrived with her husband, artist Marco Perego, and immediately drew attention on the red carpet. Her outfit came from Alaïa and was designed by Pieter Mulier as part of the brand’s 2026 seasonal collection.

The look was built around a fitted top in deep orange velvet. It had a strapless cut and a tight shape that followed the upper body. The design then shifted into a more complex lower section that did not follow a traditional dress structure.

Instead of a simple skirt, the outfit used layered fabric and uneven panels. Some parts wrapped around the body while others opened and moved away from it. The result created a mix of structure and movement, with one leg more visible at times as the fabric opened and closed.

The overall design focused on contrast. It mixed tight tailoring at the top with looser, shifting shapes below. The idea behind the collection, as noted by WWD, was based on tension between control and ease in silhouette design.

Saldaña completed the look with black sheer tights and black pointed heels with thin ankle straps. She also wore jewelry from Cartier, chosen from one of the brand’s geometric collections. Her styling was handled by Petra Flannery.

The Breakthrough Prize Awards is an annual event held to recognize achievements in science, including physics, mathematics, and life sciences. It is also known for attracting major Hollywood celebrities to its red carpet in Santa Monica.

Saldaña has recently stayed in the spotlight for both her film work and public appearances. She has built a strong career in major film franchises and award-winning projects, and her recent success has kept her a regular presence at high-profile events.

This look stands out because it is not simple or predictable. It plays with shape and movement in a way that feels bold without being messy. It also shows why she often gets attention on the red carpet. What do you think about her outfit at this event? Share your thoughts in the comments.
