Rachel McAdams Reveals Her Funniest On-Screen Partner: “Better Than Anyone”
Rachel McAdams has shared who she thinks is the funniest actor she’s ever worked with, and it might surprise some fans.
Speaking with Glamour, McAdams reflected on her long career in comedy, which has seen her act alongside some of the genre’s biggest names. She appeared in Game Night with Jason Bateman and Chelsea Peretti, mastering the deadpan humor that made audiences laugh with just a glance or tone of voice.
She also starred opposite Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn in Wedding Crashers, holding her own as a romantic interest caught between comedy and emotion.
When asked whether she prefers being serious or silly on screen, McAdams didn’t hesitate. “I’m very silly as a person, but quality silliness onscreen has more of an art to it,” she said. She then revealed her top pick for funniest co-star: “Harrison Ford, whom I was in Morning Glory with, has mastered that dry funny better than anyone.”
In Morning Glory, directed by the late Roger Michell, McAdams played a determined young TV executive trying to save a struggling morning show. Ford’s character, a gruff journalist named Mike Pomeroy, serves as the perfect straight man, refusing to engage in anything fluffy while allowing the rest of the cast’s comedy to shine.
McAdams praised Ford’s skill at balancing his tough-guy persona with comedic timing, noting how he turns seemingly serious characters into sources of unexpected humor.
Even though Ford is mostly known for action roles like Indiana Jones or Star Wars’ Han Solo, his dry wit has made him a standout in comedy as well. McAdams highlighted how his subtle, deadpan delivery makes scenes funnier, proving that pulling off comedy often takes as much skill as dramatic acting.
Comedy can be tricky, and McAdams believes Ford’s talent elevates everyone around him. “Playing it deadpan while everything else falls apart around you is one of the hardest techniques to nail,” she said. Her co-stars clearly appreciate how his humor enhances their own performances.
In my opinion, it’s refreshing to hear actors recognize subtle comedic talent like Ford’s. His ability to make audiences laugh without over-the-top antics is rare, and it clearly inspires the performers around him.
