Netflix Drops Teaser for Baki’s Wildest Season Yet
Netflix has released a brand-new teaser and poster for the upcoming anime Baki-Dou, the next entry in the long-running Baki franchise.
The streaming platform announced that the wild new season is on its way, and this time the story takes an even bigger leap by reviving a legendary swordsman from Japan’s past.
The series picks up after Baki’s brutal showdown with his father Yujiro Hanma, who is known in the story as “the strongest creature on Earth.” After that explosive father-son clash, Baki and the world’s top fighters find themselves restless and bored, looking for their next challenge.
That challenge soon arrives when scientists carry out a secret plan to bring back Miyamoto Musashi, a master swordsman from the 1600s.
Musashi is revived hundreds of meters below the Tokyo Skytree and emerges into the modern world with the same deadly skills that made him a legend. Unlike the raw, monstrous strength of Pickle, the prehistoric caveman introduced in a previous season, Musashi’s fighting style is rooted in technique and discipline. He may not be a beast who eats his enemies like Pickle once did, but his blade and skill are more than enough to terrify even the strongest martial artists alive today.
The Baki franchise has never shied away from wild storylines, and Baki-Dou looks to continue that trend. The last arc featured Pickle wreaking havoc on the underground fighters and even beating Baki himself. Now the arrival of Musashi raises the stakes again, with fans wondering whether any modern fighter has the ability to match his speed and precision.
Baki-Dou comes from Keisuke Itagaki’s manga, which ran in Weekly Shonen Champion from 2014 to 2018. The larger story follows Baki Hanma’s lifelong mission to defeat his father Yujiro by mastering his martial arts and becoming the strongest fighter in the world.
The new teaser and poster set the tone for what promises to be one of the craziest seasons yet, with Netflix continuing to expand its anime lineup with bold and unconventional stories.
