Fox has officially confirmed that The Great North will not return for a sixth season. The animated comedy, which wrapped up its fifth season recently, was created by Wendy Molyneux, Lizzie Molyneux-Logelin, and Loren Bouchard and has been part of Fox’s Animation Domination lineup since its debut.

Michael Thorn, President of Fox Television Network, expressed his gratitude, saying, “We’re so grateful for everything Wendy, Lizzie, Loren and the amazing cast and crew put into The Great North. It’s difficult to say goodbye, but we’re thankful for the five hilarious seasons The Great North brought to the iconic Animation Domination lineup.”

The show’s cancellation comes as part of a broader shakeup of Fox’s 2025 programming. Other series affected include Rescue HI-Surf, Accused, Alert: Missing Persons Unit, and The Cleaning Lady.

While Accused might return in the future as a special event, the others have been canceled. Decisions on Alert, The Cleaning Lady, and The Great North were finalized after their most recent seasons finished airing, with the first three series concluding in June and The Great North ending in September.

The Great North first premiered on January 3, 2021, and over five seasons, it developed a loyal fanbase. The series features the voices of Nick Offerman, Jenny Slate, Will Forte, Dulcé Sloan, Paul Rust, and Aparna Nancherla. Ahead of its debut, the show was renewed for a second season in June 2020.

It then went on to receive renewals for a third, fourth, and fifth season, with the fifth season airing from December 22, 2024, to September 14.

Fox’s announcement officially closes the chapter on the series after five seasons. Fans will remember the show for its quirky humor, heartwarming family moments, and standout voice performances.

It’s always sad to see a beloved animated series end, especially one that has brought laughter and unique storytelling to fans over several years. I’m curious what you think—did you enjoy The Great North, and what was your favorite part of the show? Share your thoughts in the comments.
