‘Sinners’ Makes Grammy History with Five Nominations, Ranking Among Most-Nominated Films
Ryan Coogler’s film Sinners has earned five nominations at the 68th annual Grammy Awards, making it one of the most-nominated movies in Grammy history. The dark Southern gothic drama, already praised for its storytelling and strong box office performance, has now gained recognition for its music.
Composer Ludwig Göransson is nominated for Best Score Soundtrack for Film/TV for his work on Sinners. His gospel-inspired score blends horror, spirituality, and human emotion. “Each note echoes themes of faith, sin, and survival,” his nomination description notes, highlighting how his music strengthens the film’s storytelling.
The film also received three nominations for Best Song Written for Film/TV. The nominated tracks are “I Lied to You” by Ludwig Göransson and Raphael Saadiq, performed by Miles Caton; “Pale, Pale Moon” by Göransson and Brittany Howard, performed by Jayme Lawson; and “Sinners” by Leonard Denisenko, Rodarius “Rod Wave” Green, Travis Harrington, Tarkan Kozluklu, Kyris Mingo, and Darius Povilinus, performed by Rod Wave. These nominations reflect the film’s mix of confessional ballads, spiritual blues, and cinematic anthems.
The Sinners soundtrack was also nominated for Best Compilation Soundtrack for Film/TV. The album combines new voices with traditional Southern sounds, blending gospel, blues, and soul to reflect the film’s world and cultural roots.
The 68th Grammy Awards will be held on February 1, 2026, at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles. With five nominations, all eyes will be on Sinners to see how many awards it secures.
