‘Dune: Prophecy’ Season 2 Begins Production with New Cast Additions

HBO has officially started production on season two of Dune: Prophecy. The network also revealed that Indira Varma, Tom Hollander, and Ashley Walters are joining the cast, though their roles have not yet been announced.

The second season will have eight episodes and is being led by showrunner Alison Schapker. Filming is taking place across Hungary, Jordan, and Spain. HBO even released a behind-the-scenes video to mark the start of production.

Varma is known for her work on Game of Thrones and Obi-Wan Kenobi, Hollander for The White Lotus and the Pirates of the Caribbean films, and Walters for Bullet Boy and Adolescence. Their addition brings fresh energy to the series while the returning cast continues to anchor the story.

Season one faced delays due to the 2023 Hollywood strikes, which interrupted production that had started in November 2022. That season premiered in November 2024, two years later. While it’s possible season two could arrive within a year if there are no setbacks, HBO has not provided a timeline.
