Jennifer Aniston is speaking out about what she sees as a troubling moment for Hollywood and the media. In a new interview with Elle magazine for its Women in Hollywood series, the actress shared her thoughts on ABC’s decision to suspend Jimmy Kimmel in September after comments he made about conservative activist Charlie Kirk’s death.

Aniston called the move “very dangerous and very unfortunate.” She explained that it’s a worrying sign of how easily voices can be silenced these days. “Unthinkable things are happening,” she said.

“At the end of the day, we’re the viewers. We subscribe to these networks and streaming services, so it really comes down to the people and their voices. All those subscription cancellations spoke volumes.”

Her comments referred to the fallout after Kimmel’s suspension, when many Disney+ and Hulu subscribers reportedly canceled their accounts in protest. According to research firm Antenna, Disney+ saw an 8% cancellation rate in September 2025, double the rate of the two previous months, while Hulu’s cancellations jumped to 10%, also twice the usual number.

The suspension upset many in Hollywood. Actor Oscar Isaac told reporters he was “not so open” to working with Disney, ABC’s parent company, right after the incident. “If they can kinda figure it out and, you know, not succumb to fascism, that would be great,” Isaac said. “If that happens, then yeah, I’d be open to having a conversation about a galaxy far away.”

Aniston, who has been friends with Kimmel for years, said she hopes people can move past the anger and start listening to one another again. “We all need to listen to both sides,” she said.

“That’s what we’ve lost. We’ve lost communication, we’ve lost sitting across a table and having a discussion that is productive, learning from each other. It feels like everyone is sort of stuck in their positions and it’s my way or the highway, and that’s just not how the world works.”
