James Gunn’s ‘Man of Tomorrow’ Finally Reveals Its Villain
Superman and Lex Luthor are teaming up to face a massive threat in James Gunn’s upcoming film, “Man of Tomorrow,” TheWrap reports.
The movie will see the two iconic characters join forces to battle the notorious villain Brainiac.
Production is scheduled to begin in Atlanta in April 2026, with the film set for release on July 9, 2027. Fans had long suspected Brainiac would be the main villain, largely because the story involves a temporary alliance between Superman and Luthor, which fits the comics bill.
James Gunn has been developing the next chapter in the “Superman Saga” for some time.
Back in June, he revealed he was writing a follow-up to Superman that would not be a direct sequel but would still feature the hero in a major role.
By August, David Zaslav confirmed that Gunn would write and direct the next film in the “Super-Family,” and Gunn said he had completed a script treatment. In September, he officially announced the project’s title as “Man of Tomorrow” and set the release date. Gunn also confirmed that Rachel Brosnahan and Naomi Corenswet would likely reprise their roles, along with Nicholas Hoult.
Gunn described the movie as “as much a Lex movie as it is a Superman movie” and explained that the story centers on the two characters working together against a larger threat.
Filming is expected to start next April, giving fans plenty of time to anticipate the clash between Superman, Lex Luthor, and Brainiac.
