DreamWorks Reportedly Sets Sights on Next Puss in Boots Adventure
A new adventure for Puss in Boots may be on the horizon, as industry insider Daniel Richtman says DreamWorks has started developing another film featuring the popular character.
The studio hasn’t shared any official details yet, but the report comes after a strong run for the most recent movie in the series.

Puss returned to the big screen in 2022 with Puss in Boots: The Last Wish, which Joel Crawford directed. The film continued the story that began when the character first appeared in Shrek 2.
Antonio Banderas once again voiced the fearless cat, and Salma Hayek also came back as Kitty Softpaws. The movie brought in new cast members too and followed Puss as he searched for a magical wish that could restore the lives he had lost. His quest put him up against other fairy tale characters and a dangerous wolf who pursued him through the story.
The movie earned strong reviews and made more than $401 million worldwide. That success quickly led to questions about whether DreamWorks would move forward with another sequel. Crawford was asked about this in an interview with The Playlist.
He didn’t confirm any future plans, but he made it clear that he and the team enjoyed working on the film and hoped audiences would want to see more.
He said, “I don’t know what’s going on with anything after this, but it was all this hopeful thing of we love these characters. We believe in this story that we’re telling and we hope that audiences will engage with it and demand more stories, both with the Puss and Boots side and also with Shrek. I feel like I can say based on the world’s reception of it, that it does feel like they’ve said ‘Yes, we want more,’ which I’m so happy about. But honestly, I hope to keep getting to tell stories with all of these characters.”
With Richtman now claiming that another film is moving forward, fans may not have to wait long to see where Puss’s journey goes next. But for now, everyone will need to be patient until DreamWorks shares something official.
