Noah Centineo is reportedly in talks to join Sydney Sweeney in the upcoming live-action adaptation of Gundam, the iconic anime about giant fighting robots.

The project is being produced by Legendary Pictures, and Jim Mickle, known for creating Netflix’s Sweet Tooth, is set to direct and has written the script.

According to sources, the film centers on Sweeney’s character, and she is actively involved in casting her on-screen counterpart. “Her character and the male lead are, in the vein of Romeo & Juliet, on opposite sides of a war between planets who find a connection,” the sources explained.

Centineo, who gained fame from Netflix’s To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before, has also appeared as Atom Smasher in Black Adam and was part of the ensemble in A24’s Warfare. Legendary was previously in talks with Drew Starkey for the role Centineo is now considering, but those negotiations did not go through.

The actor is already busy shooting Street Fighter for Legendary, which is scheduled to release on October 16, 2026, via Paramount. He is also preparing to film a Rambo prequel early next year. Legendary has not commented on the casting talks.

This project could mark a major next step for Centineo, pairing him with Sweeney in a high-profile sci-fi adaptation of a beloved anime. Gundam fans will likely be watching closely to see how the live-action version brings the legendary mechas and interplanetary conflict to life.
