Ralph Ineson Fires Back at Deadpool Creator Rob Liefeld Over Galactus’ “Fake” VFX Critique
Deadpool creator Rob Liefeld has been openly criticizing Marvel Studios in recent times. Recently, he shared his thoughts on the new Fantastic Four movie, specifically the scene showing Galactus destroying a city. The scene is mostly CGI, and Liefeld didn’t hold back. On his X account, he posted a clip of the scene and wrote, “Looks so fake. The Marvel FX fell off a cliff.”

Ralph Ineson, who provided both the voice and model for Galactus’ face in the movie, responded to Liefeld in a short, perfect clapback: “Rent free 😂.”
This isn’t the first time Liefeld has criticized Marvel. He has also taken aim at Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige, Liefeld called the MCU “the single biggest fail of 2025” and added, “Feige is so washed. Doomsical Chairs can’t get here fast enough!” This comes as the MCU faces its worst box office performance in years, with 2025 being the first year since 2011 without a superhero film in the global Top 10.

Liefeld’s frustration with Marvel started long before this. Earlier this year, he announced he was cutting ties with the publisher for which he created Deadpool and Cable. He explained his decision in a 90-minute episode of his podcast, Robservations.
He said one major reason was being snubbed at the Deadpool & Wolverine premiere in July of 2024. Liefeld wasn’t invited to the afterparty, something he had attended in the past, and he felt ignored by Disney and Kevin Feige on the red carpet. “It was meant to embarrass, diminish, defeat me,” he said on his podcast.
Liefeld also mentioned that some professional photos he posed for with the Deadpool & Wolverine team were later deleted. Other photos, including ones of him alone and with his family, were kept in Disney’s Getty press portal. He felt this was another sign that Marvel no longer wanted him around.
His issues with Marvel go back to early 2023, when the company changed the credits on Wolverine, giving co-creator status to editor Roy Thomas. Liefeld didn’t agree with the decision and was close to Christine Valada, the widow of Wolverine’s late co-creator Len Wein, who was upset.
In June 2024, Liefeld emailed Marvel asking for a special credit on Deadpool & Wolverine and for better access to premieres and promotional events. He said he didn’t want more money, just recognition. “Comic book creators cannot continue to be relegated as afterthoughts. This is easy to address. Unless I reach out to address it, it will never manifest,” he wrote.
Liefeld says his email was not well received inside Marvel. He was told by his agents that the message caused anger, with someone even yelling, “We are NOT Fox!” before hanging up. This, he believes, led to him being left out of the Deadpool & Wolverine afterparty.
So far, Liefeld continues to speak his mind, whether it’s about Galactus’ CGI or Marvel’s treatment of creators. Ralph Ineson’s response shows that not everyone takes his critiques too seriously, but Liefeld seems determined to call out what he sees as problems in the MCU.
