Michael DeLano, Actor from ‘Rhoda’ and ‘Ocean’s Eleven,’ Passes Away at 84 – Cause of Death Revealed
Michael DeLano, known for his work in both film and television, has passed away at 84. His wife, Jean Delano, shared the news with The Hollywood Reporter, explaining that he died on October 20 after suffering a heart attack in a hospital in Las Vegas.
DeLano’s career grew steadily through the 1970s, when he started appearing in well-known TV shows. He played Sonny Capito in the ABC series “Firehouse” and later took on the role of Lou Atkins in NBC’s sci-fi show “Supertrain.”
Many fans also remember him as Johnny Venture, the lounge singer from “Rhoda,” which was the spinoff of “The Mary Tyler Moore Show.”
His work wasn’t limited to television. DeLano reached movie audiences as well, most notably when he appeared as a casino manager in the hit films “Ocean’s Eleven” and “Ocean’s Twelve.”
He kept acting for decades, with his final credit coming in 2012 when he appeared on the series “Royal Pains.”
DeLano had lived in Las Vegas since the early 1990s, and the city became a big part of his life. According to The Hollywood Reporter, he performed music regularly at the Dispensary Lounge on Tropicana Avenue, showing off his love for classic lounge singing.
