Zachery Ty Bryan, the former “Home Improvement” star, was arrested again on Saturday in Eugene, Oregon, for allegedly violating his probation stemming from a previous domestic violence conviction, PEOPLE reports.

The 44-year-old actor, best known for playing Brad Taylor on the hit ’90s sitcom, was taken into police custody alongside his fiancée, Johnnie Faye Cartwright.

Cartwright was also booked and faces multiple charges, including driving under the influence, three counts of reckless endangering, and one count of attempted first-degree assault, according to jail records obtained by PEOPLE.

Bryan’s legal troubles have been ongoing for years. In January of this year, he faced charges of second-degree domestic violence in South Carolina. He was also arrested twice in 2024 for DUI offenses.

In 2023, he faced charges including fourth-degree felony assault, third-degree robbery, and misdemeanor harassment. His felony assault conviction in that year led to a seven-day jail sentence and probation, which is set to last until October 2026, KEZI reports.

The actor’s history with the law dates back even further. In October 2020, Bryan was arrested for felony strangulation, fourth-degree assault, and interfering with a police report following a dispute with his girlfriend in Lane County, Oregon.

He later pleaded guilty to menacing and fourth-degree assault and received three years of bench probation, along with mandatory participation in a batterer intervention program.

Bryan has also faced allegations outside of violence-related offenses. In 2023, The Hollywood Reporter revealed that he was accused of running a fraudulent agriculture-technology startup, taking payments from investors for contracts that had no real value. That same year, he and his production company Lost Lane were ordered by the Superior Court of Los Angeles to repay $108,940.57 to an investor after being found guilty of scamming money for a film project.

The actor’s 2024 arrests include multiple DUI charges. In February, Bryan was arrested in La Quinta, California, after a traffic collision and charged with misdemeanor contempt of court and felony DUI, marking his fourth DUI offense.

Later, in October, he was arrested in Custer County, Oklahoma, for a second DUI offense that year and driving without a valid license. Dashcam footage obtained by Fox News showed Bryan refused a sobriety test and admitted to driving after drinking.

Bryan’s legal troubles have raised questions about his repeated behavior and the enforcement of his probation. Failure to comply with his probation terms could result in a 19–20 month prison sentence, according to court records.
