The White House and pop star Sabrina Carpenter clashed on Tuesday after Carpenter objected to her music being used in a video about ICE arrests.

The administration had posted a montage showing agents arresting people, set to Carpenter’s song “Juno.” The video also included footage of protests in Chicago against ICE raids.

Carpenter called the video “evil and disgusting” and asked the White House not to use her music to “benefit [the administration’s] inhumane agenda,” according to her statement shared publicly.

The White House fired back quickly. Spokesperson Abigail Jackson said in a statement, “Here’s a Short n’ Sweet message for Sabrina Carpenter: We won’t apologize for deporting dangerous criminal illegal m*******, r****, and ped***** from our country. Anyone who would defend these sick monsters must be stupid, or is it slow?” Jackson also referenced Carpenter’s recent albums in the statement.

This is not the first time an artist has pushed back against the Trump administration using their music. Musicians have often spoken out when their songs were used in political campaigns or government videos without permission.
