Amanda Seyfried Opens Up Candidly About Botox and Her Go-To Spot
Amanda Seyfried recently spoke openly about her beauty routine and approach to aging in a Who What Wear cover story published on December 10. The 40-year-old actress shared details about her use of Botox, skincare treatments, and her mindset on self-care and aging.
Seyfried said she has a trusted dermatologist who focuses on consistency. “I have a really good dermatologist who tells me that she’s never gonna do anything but put Botox in the same place for the rest of my life,” she explained, pointing to a spot on her forehead.
She also discussed using CBD oil, which helps reduce redness, calm irritation, and support skin hydration, along with ILP laser treatments to improve fine lines and sun damage. She added that she currently has no plans to undergo any cosmetic surgery.
Talking about her approach to aging, Seyfried said, “I know life is harder the older you get, but I also know that I’m pretty prepped because I’ve done a lot of work in the decade of my 30s. I’ve done a lot of couples therapy. I’ve done a lot of therapy alone. I’ve had insane amounts of conversations with psychologists and friends who are psychologists, that I feel like I have a lot of self-knowledge. It’s not everything, but it certainly goes a long way.”
The actress previously discussed getting work done while playing a “Truth Serum” game with her co-star Sydney Sweeney for Allure’s YouTube channel. During the game, they addressed beauty rumors and shared candid thoughts on cosmetic procedures. Sweeney, 28, admitted she has never had any work done, saying, “I am so scared of needles you have no idea.” Seyfried encouraged her, noting that injectables can be effective as you get older: “But it’s really effective once you get older. I’m telling you right now.”
Seyfried also gave advice on the art of getting injectables. “You can’t just get it everywhere like a lot of people do,” she said, highlighting the importance of precision. She also joked with Sweeney about preparing for treatments, “When you do, you gotta call me and I’ll give you a little bit of Ativan and you’ll be so excited. But you don’t need it yet.”
Sweeney pointed out that her own face might benefit from cosmetic work due to a past wakeboarding accident that left her eyes slightly uneven, explaining, “When I was younger, I had a wakeboarding accident and I needed to get 19 stitches, so I feel like it pulls my eye just a little differently than the other.”
Seyfried’s candid discussion offers a refreshing look at how she balances self-care, cosmetic treatments, and mental wellness while approaching aging naturally.
