Critics praised Amanda Seyfried’s performance as a standout, noting that she brings intense energy to the film and helps maintain dramatic tension. The film’s story, filled with secrets, romance, and deception, also received attention for keeping audiences engaged. One reviewer described it as a “steamy potboiler” that explores a tangled web of lies and manipulation.
What remains of The Housemaid is a film that, despite a handful of unintended laughs, is so desperate for attention that it forgets why it exists in the first place.

Amanda Seyfried’s performance is to die for. The Housemaid is titillating enough to satisfy fans of the genre but any scene without Amanda immediately loses a notable amount of dramatic tension.

Steamy little potboiler pries open a Pandora’s box of secrets and sets up a tangled romantic triangle built on lies, schemes, sex, misdirection and manipulation.

Overall, critics suggest that while the film may not reach perfection in every scene, it remains an engaging thriller, particularly for fans of the genre.
