Guy Ritchie is bringing Sherlock Holmes back, but this time we are meeting him as a young man.

Prime Video has released the first trailer for Young Sherlock, a new series that shows the famous detective before he became the polished genius everyone knows. The show is set in the 1870s, in Oxford and beyond, and follows Sherlock as a 19-year-old who is raw, angry, and still learning how to use his mind and skills.

The series stars Hero Fiennes Tiffin as Sherlock Holmes. This version of Sherlock is inexperienced, emotional, and has a rough edge. He is far from the calm, confident detective of Baker Street.

Instead, he is a young man facing trouble after a murder at Oxford threatens his freedom. Solving the case takes him on an adventure that spans different countries and sets the foundation for the detective he will later become.

“With all the wit and charm of Guy Ritchie’s Sherlock Holmes feature films, Young Sherlock follows the origin story of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s beloved detective in an explosive re-imagining of this iconic character’s early days. Sherlock Holmes is a disgraced young man – raw and unfiltered – when he finds himself wrapped up in a murder case that threatens his liberty. His first ever case unravels a globe-trotting conspiracy that changes his life forever,” the official description says.

The cast includes Zine Tseng as Princess Gulun Shou’an, a young Chinese princess who is also a scholar and skilled in martial arts. Joseph Fiennes and Natascha McElhone play Sherlock’s parents, Silas and Cordelia Holmes.

Colin Firth joins as Sir Bucephalus Hodge, and Dónal Finn plays James Moriarty, the detective’s future nemesis.

Max Irons appears as Mycroft Holmes, Sherlock’s older brother. Several other actors, including Numan Acar, Ravi Aujla, Holly Cattle, Simon Delaney, Adam James, Rachel Shelley, and Ian Midlane, are part of the supporting cast.

Young Sherlock is based on Andrew Lane’s book series, which reimagines Arthur Conan Doyle’s classic stories. The show will have eight episodes, all available on Prime Video starting March 4, 2026, in more than 240 countries and territories.

Guy Ritchie is directing the series, promising a fast-paced and action-packed style similar to his Sherlock Holmes movies but focused on a younger, more unpredictable Sherlock.
