Brad Pitt Scores Court Win Over Angelina Jolie, Private Messages Ordered Released
Brad Pitt has won a key legal battle in his ongoing dispute with ex-wife Angelina Jolie over their French vineyard, Château Miravel.
According to court documents obtained by Page Six, a judge has ordered Jolie to hand over private emails and text messages about the sale of her share of the property.
An insider told Page Six that the messages could show Jolie was not honest about her intentions regarding the vineyard. Jolie, 50, now has 45 days to provide the communications.
Jolie’s lawyer, Paul Murphy, criticized the court’s decision. “The court’s ruling violates that law, undermines Ms. Jolie’s fundamental right to a fair trial, and represents yet another manifestation of Mr. Pitt’s years-long effort to harass and control her. We will appeal,” Murphy said.
The legal fight stems from Pitt’s claim that Jolie sold her portion of the vineyard to the Stoli Group in 2021 without his consent. Pitt and Jolie bought Château Miravel in 2008 for $28.4 million, and the couple had agreed not to sell their shares without consulting each other. They were married from 2014 to 2019 and had planned to raise their children at the vineyard and build a family business.
In October, Pitt requested that Jolie turn over communications with her business manager, publicists, and financial advisors. Pitt alleges these discussions include important details about the vineyard sale and should be part of the case. “[Jolie] has still produced only one internal email that even mentions the terms of the sale at the center of this case,” Pitt said in his filing.
Jolie has argued that the messages are protected because they involve legal discussions. Her team has claimed that Pitt is trying to control and harass her. “This once again confirms that this lawsuit is the manifestation of Mr. Pitt’s years-long effort to harass and control Angelina,” Murphy previously said.
The case is part of a long history of disputes between the former couple. In 2016, Pitt was investigated for alleged child abuse following a plane incident but was not charged. In 2022, Jolie filed a countersuit claiming Pitt tried to force her to sign a nondisclosure agreement regarding alleged abuse of her and their children.
Outside the legal battles, Pitt has been open about his past struggles with alcohol and drugs. He got sober in 2016, attended Alcoholics Anonymous, and credited fellow actors like Bradley Cooper and Anthony Hopkins for support. Pitt has also spoken about using cannabis in the late 1990s to cope with fame but later reduced his usage to focus on work.
This court ruling gives Pitt an advantage in the vineyard dispute, but the battle between the two stars is ongoing. It highlights how complex legal and personal matters can become when high-profile couples split.
This case shows the challenges of dividing shared property and managing public scrutiny after a high-profile divorce. While Pitt has gained a legal win, the underlying disputes remain complicated.
